Well Undertale's fifth anniversary has passed and we are currently nearing the anniversary of the EB Halloween Hack (Megalovania's true anniversary). This song really has come a long way and it truly is one of Toby's best songs to date (but like, Battle Tower in Sword and Shield). It truly has been a ride from a video I honestly did not expect to get big to an anniversary video including the live version of the song, I can't thank you guys enough.

Calling it now that a new version of Megalovania will be made for Deltarune, possibly for the optional "superboss" of chapter 7. It's appeared in all of Toby Fox's works from the Halloween Hack to Undertale. It's too iconic to not be in his biggest project yet.

...wait. So, Pesterquest gets a Megalovania version...during a scene with Aradia? And, in the OG Homestuck, the guitar really picked up during Aradia's ascension. I always thought Megalovania was Vriska's theme, but, is it actually supposed to be an Aradia theme? Cuz if so, wow.

First half is Aradia, second is Vriska as it has her leitmotifs. That's how I always saw it.

Yeah, it really is. Keep in mind the majority of [S] Wake is focused on Aradia and her big moment of obtaining God Tier AND temporarily stopping Bec Noir. Meanwhile, Vriska only gets a short bit at the end where she kills Tavros. It's also worth noting that Aradia gets basically all of the consistent bits of Megalovania during her scenes, while the part of that plays during Vriska's bits is only in the Homestuck version. So it's like, Megalovania is Aradia's theme, but the Homestuck version has a tiny bit of Vriska shit at the end because she was there in the Flash. TBH hearing that Megalovania was made part of Aradia's theme in Pesterquest has made me really happy, cause I've always been kinda annoyed that because Vriska is the Big Popular Character, it was basically widely considered to be her theme entirely instead despite her doing Jack Shit.

@@NeoValentine i *think* that (this is just speculation/assumption, this is not a statement) toby actually wanted to make megalovania vriska related; the badly amped guitar gives it away and the fact that vriska has more megalomaniacal tendencies (this is a statement). i *think* hussie interpreted the spiders claw leitmotif differently and made the last section of the song just an extra scene with vriska in it. and for my final argument point or whatever even if i dont consider this arguing: megalovanias original cover art is vriskas motherfukin face

The absolute funniest thing for me was: I got Pesterquest and I don't really know a lot about Homestuck. But when I saw I could just choose chapters - and chose the one with "aries" (because I am an aries) - I just fucking sat there in silence for a few seconds - realising that Megalovania was playing in the background. A really nice coincidence if I do say so myself. Edit: After having played EarthBound - I also appreciate the fact that he put this in his EarthBound Halloween hack

Slight correction: he named it Megalovania because it was supposed to be a translation of the song “Magalomania” from Live-A-Live, but Toby couldn’t get it to work in the Halloween Hack and when he made a mistake in the initial translation process, he decided he liked it and kept itterating until we got what ended up becoming “Andonuts’ Rage.”

brodylovania sounds like the version that was made right before undertale's tbh, based off of the progression of changes in the song. it sounds like the song that you would look at and most likely hear that it's time to ditch repeating the line in the second half of the verse

I would assume it’s because he wants to because it only really became a trend after undertale. I don’t think the earthbound hacks were that popular as earthbound is somewhat niche and so homestuck was just a reference to some fan games he made then I assume by undertale he decided to make it his thing and decided to put it in all his works. After undertale tho everything it’s in is just stuff relating to undertale and homestuck. The only real thing I see he didn’t put it in was deltarune.

Yeah, when I made the first version I kinda thought that it was but eh, it grew on me and became my favorite version so yeah. Thought it was worth keeping on there since most compilations even do that. No this does not mean I'm adding au megalos or any others, Cognitive Dissonance Megalovania will be the only exception at least for me.

It also plays when the mothership is hit by a meteorite… The meteorite with that weird plant thing on it… And it also plays when you FIGHT that plant thing 6 chapters later in the game… It is also the ONLY thing in the game to be aware of the fourth wall (“Open your mind… And reach for ALT and F4…”)…….
