I find my thermal camera to be incredibly useful in so many areas. I have quickly identified damp patch issues in a ceiling being due to missing insulation, thermostat failure in a forklift causing overheating, balancing radiators in the house, blocked flow pipe in a fogger (cold after blockage), and a host of small electronics diagnostics where you can spot the hot component. I personally opted for the Bosch GTC400 which has amazing resolution for the price and a beautiful big clear screen. Wouldn't recommend it specifically for you because it has no video output (unless you can hack it!). The hot hand print left on a table is a good indication of a quality instrument that will have very useful thermal resolution. I tried one prior to the Bosch and it had terrible thermal resolution. Sent it back and no regrets going for the Bosch instead.

Hello, I’ve watched many of your videos and enjoyed all of them. Keep up the very informative videos. I thought that you and your audience might be interested in the following thermal comments: 1). In order to obtain accurate thermal information on infrared devices the following is very important. The camera will have specifications for the distance. An 8:1 ratio means if you are 8 inches away the camera will capture and evaluate and average a 1 inch circular area. If you are too far or to close your accuracy will be affected. 2). Many objects are very reflective. The better cameras have a setting called Emissivity that is used to help compensate for temperature errors. Think of Emissivity as a correction factor. The human hand or face has a Emissivity of about 0.98 (100 is maximum). Other objects will usually have a lower emissivity i.e. a dark plastic transistor could be about 0.7. Reflective items could be 0.1. When the Emissivity is low the IR camera internal calculator (computer) increases the displayed temperature to make it more accurate. Many cameras in their operating manual have a rough list of the Emissivity of several items. If you or anyone else is interested in determining an item’s Emissivity I could certainly write another comment.

Thank you for what you do. I just found randomly your channel watched a few videos and thay already helped me so much. I am an amateur beginner trying to repair stuff around the house or basically that i find for free. I am from Greece to so difficult to find that short of equipment for cheap here but ok. I had no idea how board view worked and i had spent days trying to figure it out... you are god sent

I bought a similar model , same mfr. I've found lots of uses besides troubleshooting electronics. works grea for troubleshooting hot water heating, plumbind, as well as electronics.

Ever used chipquik? - It really does work in getting stuff off without much heat like on that serial ic on the Z270 board - two strokes down each row of pins and it'd pretty much lift off - the only downside is it doesn't flow as easily to the iron (which is a good thing in removal of the component but less so in removing the alloy from the component for reuse!) so clean up can be a little more effort but its a very minor detail compared to the benefits... fairly expensive but a little goes a long way!

For infrared the display looks like a usable resolution. How much are they ? I guess you can use it also for checking if a heat pipe in a laptop is working correctly. Another good video, thanks for uploading.

Hi. I believe its possible to use a microsoft kinect (version 1) as a thermal camera. They come with an infrared camera built in (you just have to use some software). You can buy them for very little and purchase a power unit as well. Might be an interesting hack/project

Heya handy and use full tool I have one but it's a b-type brand to see if 18650 batteries are getting hot

Thermal cameras usually have the ability to limit the temperature range that they show on the screen. What this does is not show you areas that are below a set temperature range and allows you to see only those areas that exceed that lower limit. Makes areas that you probably are more interested in stand out easier.

Don't know if this is any help with ohms law and power, but in college, I was taught power as the same triangle, so "P" over "V" "I". Drawn in exactly the same triangle as "V" over "I" "R" that you drew. Oh and this was around 2006, so show it's worth to still be taught that way. Anyway, hope this helps.

Not by me mate. Sometimes YT does that without giving me any option. Often that happens if there is a URL in the comment (but not always) Post it again. I never delete viewer comments regardless of their opinion.

Can it show heart ❤️ beating inside a human being or a cat ?
@projectbuild9784
@projectbuild9784 2 года назад
No, it only shows surface infra-red and the heart beating wouldn't generate enough heat in surrounding tissue to be visible at the skin surface.

FLIR has multimeters that can connect to their cameras via Bluetooth. It imbeds the multimeter data into the image so it's always there.
