After neutering our two male rabbits - Onyx and Oreo at 4 months old - we were surprised to discover that Winter was pregnant! At just 5 months old, she had given birth to 4 adorable babies! Early pregnancies are rare but are apparently common among rabbits with the dwarf gene. (Wish our Vet told us earlier!) Anyway, we just had to do another video of Winter’s babies! If you watch this, you’ll know why! Such adorably cute and fluffy buns!!!💗

Hi bunny fans! Welcome to our channel.
I'm Popcorn, an 8 month old mama Jersey Woolly!
And I'm Ash, an 8 month old daddy Holland Lop!
We're bonded rabbits living in tropical Singapore!
Our mommy, Arianna, makes videos all about rabbit care and our young family. We don't intend to expand as Arianna's mom had us spayed and neutered after the birth of our babies (yes, it was unexpected!) - Winter, Oreo and Onyx. They are each very unique and adorable bunnies!
Join us in our journey and learn more about the Bun life! :)

Yes, I know. But we had to put the babies up for adoption since 9 bunnies are too many to handle! I feel sad but at least they’re going to good homes.💗

lovely video. Can you do a video on how to take care of mum during this time? Especially diet. xxx
@popcornash9903
@popcornash9903 2 года назад
Thank you! Sure! Let me see what I can do. Generally, mum will needs lots of water, nutrition-rich pellets (the ones for baby buns) and hay (some alfalfa). I also give basil and mint and some kale. This is to help with her milk production. I kind of spoil mummy bun with her favourite healthy treats especially after she nurses. She’ll need a lot of rest, so daddy bun shouldn’t bother her and should stay away if he’s not fixed! She can get pregnant again right after giving birth! And believe me, she doesn’t need the additional stress of being pregnant again as she’ll be busy nursing every day for at least 2 months! Hope this helps for now.😊

Does this technically mean the kits parent were siblings?
@popcornash9903
@popcornash9903 2 года назад
Popcorn is a jersey wooly and Ash is a Holland Lop. They were not siblings. Winter and Oreo were siblings. Despite the males being fixed, the females had accidental litters due to extremely early pregnancies. They got pregnant at 4 months old! Even our vet was shocked and she’s rabbit-savvy. We had scheduled Winter’s surgery at 5 months but she was already pregnant. Anyway, it was a lesson learned and we hope others will learn from our experience.

But, they sure are cute. Next time, make sure you don't touch them. The best, DIANE
@jasminthompson6871
@jasminthompson6871 2 года назад
it actually better if you do touch them. mother bunnies won’t abandon the kits if you touch them. you can actually touch them pretty much as soon as they’re born and it’s better if you are, you should be checking them at least once everyday holding them making sure none have died and to see if they are all getting fed properly

I have a question, what are your bunnies breeds?
@popcornash9903
@popcornash9903 2 года назад
They are crosses between a Jersey Woolly and Holland Lop Hotot Cross😅

Do you leave the male with the female the whole time or do you seperate them?
@popcornash9903
@popcornash9903 2 года назад
Once the female gave birth, we separated them immediately as we didn’t want another accidental litter. The male was actually scheduled to be fixed two days later (at 4 1/2 months), so it was just timely. Mom could nurse her babies in peace for two whole months and have some time for herself to recover.😊

How do you tell them all apart?
@popcornash9903
@popcornash9903 2 года назад
After hanging out with them long enough, you’ll notice differences in looks and in personality. Rascal is dominant/adventurous and has smooth fur, rounded eyes and distinct lashes. Cotton has slanted eyes, long ears and softer, fluffier fur. Angel has short ears, very soft fur and is the most skittish of them. Stormy has smooth fur, a dark birthmark that looks like a lightning rod behind one ear. When he turned 7 weeks, his ears became flopped.😊

Please do not touch the bunnies when they are new born, or else the mother will harm them bc they think their bunnies are humans. Thank You

Thanks for your concern. I agree that in the case of wild baby rabbits, they should not be handled unless clearly abandoned. As for domestic rabbits, there seem to be different views. Based on our personal experience with three accidental litters, our bunny moms have had no problems with us handling their babies especially since the moms are bonded to us and are used to our scent. I suppose it may pose a risk if the mommy bun is not bonded to its handler. But yes, handling kits should be kept at a minimum and only when necessary and only by the mommy bun’s bonded owner. Just to clarify- we only really handle the kits 24hours after their birth to do a quick headcount and to ensure the babies remain in their nest (sometimes they leave and don’t get nursed), are dry and warm and are well fed by their mom. The mommy bun will not put them in the nest if they leave, so we help her in this regard. In the case of our second accidental litter, we were too late in checking the kits that we didn’t remove a dead kit which may have introduced bacteria to the other kits, causing their death. Our third litter we raised successfully because we more diligent in ensuring that they were warm, fed and dry from day one. We even ensured that their mommy would feed them and when one kit didn’t get enough milk, we would ensure she fed it. Our mommy bun was very friendly as you can see in the above video and never once expressed resentment in our handling her babies. We even assisted her daily in nursing her babies until they were 2 months old. But then again, she is very used to us as we had her since birth. So, perhaps this was why she permitted us to handle her babies. Thank you for your feedback, Diane! It is good to discuss issues like this and I hope our response clarified matters.
