oh wow thank u all so much for 100k views and all the sweet comments for this video !!! 💖💖💖 heres a few interesting (?) tidbits about it: - the wild thing is i was sick for about a week in the process of making this and my hazy mind made me second guess the whole door memory concept and i was really close to scrapping the whole thing ngl -the final playtimes over part (6:29) represents what actually happened in the memory without the present K Howard to comfort her past selves 😔🤙🏾 -for that same scene above, i originally had k howard getting dragged down and across the hallway floor by the pink hands but i scrapped it cus shes been thru enough already (maybe ill bring it to life another time who knows) -she deserved way better thats it
The 16th century had an appalling view of consent. And it didn't help that she was under a sociopathic narcissist who just had to get whatever he wanted immediately. This is a great video. Thanks for making it.
definicious the 6:29 actually broke my heart so much since it just struck me how alone Kitty Howard is, to the point that the only person who comforted her is her future self.
It's also really sad when you realize that every time she walks out is when she is r*ped by the men she thought loved her. (Others were coercion of her as a kid, but Thomas specifically was straight up r*pe if you look at the history)
You know the saying "you get your memories when you die" maybe this was hers as she was being beheaded, her "life flashed before he eyes"? I dunno that was my interpretation of it
How small Katherine looks really truly makes it hit harder, most other animatics of this song haven't portrayed her this young, but she literally was. Amazing job.
it seems like the more comments that say 'most animatics forget to show her as young,' the less animators forget. I feel like at this point I've seen more who make a point of her age, just as time goes on they've overwhelmed the early versions that neglected it
@@rosep5899 I did one like that, although it flickers out at henry because the portrait i was basing her off was taken around then. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wy6OPs7psTE.html
Fun fact: everyone in England was creeped out by Henry VIII marrying Katherine Howard because she was 17 and he was 48. They just couldn't do anything about it because Henry was the king. So yeah sleazy is definitely the right word. Poor girl
I love how as the song progresses, Katherine gets less enthusiastic while doing her little dance. it’s devastating because it captures the fact that these men that she trusted was slowly sucking the joy out of her life.
Also a small reference to the live performances! K Howard gets less enthusiastic and more bored as the song goes on, and literally cries at the end. #SaveKatherineHoward!
I love how you actually portrayed how young she was at the time. I love all the animatics made but it makes me kinda sad when people make her look like she was already an adult when sadly she wasn’t.
In the part of the song where it's talking about Thomas, it says 'the friend I need' and 'no chemistry' and the fact that she was beheaded for Thomas taking advantage of her when she clearly didn't see him as anything more than a friend and thought that he was genuinely there for her and not going to take advantage of her breaks my heart.
Seeing this animatic make me realize how much darker this song is than it's already now. Realizing how Kathrine all those "relationship" are toxic. Such a sweet innocent girl get taken advantage of throughout her entire life.
which goes into her outfit and personality in the musical, she’s the dominatrix of the group. Portrayed as the older sister of the Six, she is cause she grew up quick despite dying at 19.
yo i know that everyone else is praising it but seriously, the idea of howard watching her past self make those choices (or be forced to make them) is incredible and u are so creative & talented like wtf also congrats on 14k!!
her face whenever she leaves the room of her past, and her caring and being okay with her younger self even when she knows what's gonna happen. and the ending of them taking her choker as a symbol of them taking her life. this is such a beautiful animatic, it was right to subscribe to you :>
I love how throughout she slowly gets more tired of all their words and how her current self looks so worried for her past self I think this actually made me cry. Thanks for uploading, I think this is my fave all you wanna do animatic yet! :)
Eight dislikes. Well, since Henry was known as "Henry the eighth",I'm pretty sure it's obvious who's hating on this. EDIT: The more the comment lives, the more the joke fails me o no
Fun fact: Anne Boleyn got beheaded by a skilled french swordsman, with a sharp sword. So she died quickly and painlessly. While Katherine got beheaded by someone who wasn't skilled. Also, she didn't get a sharp sword, she got a shit axe. I'm not sure if it's true but what they thought us is that her head came off after lots of whacking the rusty axe, you can't even imagine the pain. She took that crap after practicing. She requested for a block so she could practice resting her head on it, that was all she did while waiting for her death on the day of the execution.
@@hi-fw4lm (and also @Hi Guys.) This is not true. None of the contemporary reports mention anything about the axe hitting her body or the executioner taking several attempts to sever her head. Documentations, such as the one by merchant Ottwell Johnson (who was present at the beheading), speak only of Catherine's bravery and how she made a 'most godly and Christian end'. If the execution had been botched, it would have been explicitly mentioned in accounts of the time - as in records of beheadings which we do know were not carried out smoothly, it is made very clear. I've seen so many people comment this; I'm not sure where this information is coming from. As for the detail about her practising putting her head on the block, from what we know that is true. It comes from a pretty reliable chronicler of the 1500s, Imperial ambassador Eustace Chapuys. You can read all about Catherine Howard's death and the reports of it written around the same time here via these links - this website is reputable and provides its own citations: www.theanneboleynfiles.com/the-executions-of-catherine-howard-jane-boleyn-francis-dereham-and-thomas-culpeper/4357/ ('the masked executioner then took Catherine's head off with one blow') www.theanneboleynfiles.com/the-execution-of-catherine-howard/
@@somebody3487 if that's true then at least we know that Catherine didn't suffer as much. Whatever the truth is I'm just glad that because of this musical more people are revisiting their story. Thanks for the clarification m8
Actually, the axe got lodged into her back, but it didn't kill her. After a long time trying to get it out, then came the wacking. At least that's what I learned.
when I first heard the song I didn't like how it just stops abruptly, but now I think it just ends like that because of how abruptly K Howard's life ended (She died when she was 19)
I love how you represent all of Katherines past selves as children??? Because everyone seems to forget that she was little. She married Henry when she was 16, and was barely an adult (19) when she died. She wasn't just a child with Henry Manox. She was a child with ALL of these men. They took advantage of a underage girl. I seriously feel for her.
She was a little girl not only in age but in stature - she was only about five feet tall. Next to the huge bloated Henry she must have looked like a tiny doll. Poor girl
Jesus Christ this song is just so clever. On the surface, it's a bop, and we wanna jam along to it just as Katherine, but it's only once we really listen we understand what's going on, just as when she really thought about it she realised what was happening. She was innocent, all she wanted was guidance and all she got was abuse. The bit with the instruments was particularly sooooo awfully clever. Just by showing them being unused, along with her singing about how much they did, we know exactly what's happening. I love that the men are only silhouettes too. They aren't men, they're not even human, they were monsters.
This song is hinting at the fact she was “pretty “ and a lot of guys would try to get close to her to....you know “bird and the bees me” but she met guys she thought she could trust but each time they just used her...she just wanted a friend and they just...at that time of age women ( or girls ) didn’t have the right to say “no” all they could do is not talk to guys ( which was impossible to ) or marry them or do what THEY wanted..same it goes with any minority really...the little guys do what the majority want...at lest it’s better now...I wish she was born in this day of age...I understand her so much...I am sorry she had to go threw that...I wish I could give her a hug..
I love so much that she looked at her past self in that situation, regretting what she did and trying to help her old self. It changed my point of view of this song. Edit: I would say thanks for the likes and heart, but that just makes the comment worse.
@@notavemo9291 major as in adult to minor as in child, C to D as in the proximity of how close those notes are to eachother and uhh yeah. If you have a dirtier mind you could probably conjure up an innuendo to figuratively catch a case, but that's my interpretation. Don't need COPPA to come for me 😂
I got blowing the flute(dick),plucked my strings all the way to g(fingering, the g spot), major to minor, c ( child/clit) to d (dick) but it took the other comments to make me realise that there were innuendos *everywhere* . Dynamics(bodies moving), strumming the lute(fingering), striking the chords (I’m not sure but someone suggested this meant spanking), favourite “quill” (dick) , my wrist was so tired (handjob), I’m pretty sure that’s all I can think of at the moment. Man, the writer of this song is Shakespeare, second person to slip dick jokes in a sentence, and have it make sense.
So it seems someone else got the second meaning behind the " he even let me use "his favorite quill" ". God there's second meaning scattered throught out the songs.
sorry for replying so late lmao but I also interpreted that her wrists were tired because he was holding them down and using his force on her so she couldn't fight back...
(Big rant, really sorry, got angry) Oh my gosh I am livid now. She was literally older than one of her stepdaughters, and Henry was like 30 years older than she was. In the times she met Elizabeth she found companionship in a girl who was 7, cause she was also basically a kid. This animatic just highlights that in a way I hadn't realized when just listening to it and it makes me absolutely sick that this happened. I know, "the times were different", but she was a kid. Historians cant even place how old she was when she was murdered, the lowest I saw was 17, and the highest being 25. And then I see all these historical articles being like "Vixen or Victim" and i just got so angry. Apparently she got away from the guards for a few seconds and went screaming towards the king begging for mercy, and he's just a monster who I don't think cared about anyone, especially not these women. This is the song that made me realize that when we talk about this story in school, we should talk about the women that put up with him, or he threw away or murdered before we even mention him.
Molly Simpson You are so right! I hate how history teachers always talk about Henry first, like my teacher barely even talked about the girls whose lives he ruined or ended. They should definitely be learned about more.
esp the fact that she didn't get a skilled swordsman like Anne did, she got a shitty, dull axe, that took several hits to her neck and back before it actually killed her. imagine the amount of fucking pain she must've been in. she deserved none of what she got.
@@catboydeathgrips That bits not true. Katherine was executed quickly and cleanly. You're thinking of Mary Queen of Scots and Margaret Countess of Salisbury, whose executions took a couple of chops. Katherine's was over with one chop - the only thing in the poor girl's life that went right
I love how you made the age difference obvious and the hands were really cool I think Katherine was a beautiful young girl who was taken advantage of but didn’t exactly understand at the time, I mean, 13?! Like that’s young, she didn’t really deserve what happened to her
I just realized that when she says that "playtimes over" that's when the relationship ended and at the end when "playtimes over" it could be talking about how she got beheaded..??😳🤔
Reply to Awkward Fishy: some of my old drama friends think “play time’s over” can mean either the fun in bed was over after each guy got what he wanted, or it can mean how she had to grow up so quickly since her childhood innocence ended at 13 when she was first raped.
It’s probably just me overthinking but in the last scenes with the red hands She looks like she is being dragged away to be beheaded and it hurtss mee You are so talented and creative! Whoop
I love how you did it to how she just wanted her younger self to realize that what they were doing wasn’t always great. How she was played just for her body... and how she actually thought they genuinely loved her, poor her...
I literally watched the wip for this just today. Honestly tho this is great. The dark bodies of the men, and Howard literally talking to herself in the "He just cares so much" Plus, her progressively getting more tired and defeated looking as each guy goes by Also Henry's shadow looks... interesting
6:22 is my fav part because of the quote “bite my lip and pull my hair as you tell me I’m the fairest of the fair” it has some inside of how her life is
the thing that hits me most about this song is how it doesn’t have a noticeable climax. unlike in “Heart of Stone,” where it climaxes after the “soon i’ll have to go, i’ll never see him grow” part. in this song, i think the lack of climax and the repetitive melodic lines go together with katherine’s life - how every relationship she had was just men wanting her for sex, and how that was also the thing that screwed her over in the end, even if she didn’t want that. and that hits me so hard.
Fun Fact! When Katherine. H was beheaded, Henry didn't call a professional swordsman. Instead, he got one of his friends drunk and got him to behead her. The beheading took an hour or more because he started at the back, then scraping in multiple times to her head, finally chopping it off successfully for the 5th try! 👏
I just wanted to say that I loved everything abiut this. The artstyle, the story. You are such an amazing artist and an idea about older Catherine supporting her younger versions, symbolizing her reflections about the situation is so creative. Contiune your work because it's absolutely stunning♥️
I love how you have Cathrin taking care of younger her. Like stroking her younger selfs hair and re stringing her corset. It feels like she knows it’s how it is and that’s all she can do to help herself.
I've seen many animatics of this song but this strikes me as the first one to fully express Katherine's psychology, not diminish her abuse, take advantage of the songs tone and double entendres without being raunchy... overall a sensitive take. Bravo.
I love that you added two more hands grabbing her after each man betraying her. It shows that even though they’re physically gone from her life, the memory of them is still holding Katherine back.
I love how the longer we get into the song, more hands surround her and are trying to pull her in. The emotion you captured with this animatic is amazingly strong and deep aaaaaaaaa!! :d we luv u queen
I love the little detail at 0:08 where Anne is doing the face she did in the "Don't Lose Ur Head" animatic when she was saying "or go to hell". I like to think that she's going like "Mate, go to hell." XDD
This is pure art. From the little dance she does during the chorus, to her talking and taking care of her past selves, it’s all so heart wrenchingly beautiful. This is my favorite song from SIX, for many reasons, and but there’s one reason in particular... when she realizes she was used for the fourth time ( 5:51 to the end). It’s always been one of the most powerful moments to me, cause you can hear all the anger, pain, regret, exhaustion, and heartache in her voice. And the way you portrayed that, with the static/ darkness ( although I like to imagine it as all her emotions) consuming her, gave me chills. Amazing job!
Have you heard the live versions of the song? The emotion her actresses add to the number is so hearthwrenching! Deffinitely one of my favorite parts of the show!
salem bn salem bn I’m going to have Yo go listen to the live recording. And you’re right, definitely one of the most heart wrenching moments. Edit: so. I just listened to the live recording. I’m officially torn to pieces. That was beautifully heart wrenching! That ending, the emotion and anger in her voice.. thank you so much for suggesting I listen to the live recording, I love this song even more!
This is one of the best animations for this song. period. The artist shows how young Katherine really is and I love how she shows the reality of it all... :(
if anyone didn't know, when she says '13 going on 30' instead of the accurate ages of herself and Henry Mannox, this is a movie reference in which a girl goes to sleep on her 13th birthday wishing to be “thirty and flirty and thriving,” like a 30 year old and wakes up the next day in her Manhattan apartment all grown up. I feel like this was added to maybe explain how quickly Katherine's childhood went by since she was only a child when she got molested; a teenager when she got married and died
To add onto another comment, She was so scared for her beheading, she practised a hundred, probably more, times putting her head on the chopping block, she was just so young. It's so sad. She only wanted to please others. Katherine Howard deserved better, as did the others. :(
OMG SHE WAS 13 POOR LITTLE GIRL I thought it was cute when Catherine was treating her 13 year old self like she was her mother giving her head pats 🥺🥺so cute I teared up
This is so good, it makes me really sad. Honestly, I think K Howard went through the most. I never realised just how young she was and I love how this portrays that. Also all the comments are saying she was 19, was she really? That sucks man but dude... this video is amazing so many feels
I'm so glad for how you and other animators have given this song the depth it has in Catherine's history of sexual abuse. You did a great job making an original portrayal with Catherine going through doors of her past and interacting and comforting her younger selves. I especially like the detail you gave in the younger Catherines (13 and young teen! Catherine), who despite believing their relationship with an older man was 'genuine' and based on love, they still had a flash of discomfort and shock (0:33 and 2:17) because they were being preyed upon/forced into a sexual act. It really helped show that Catherine was a child at the time who was used by older men and that it wasn't love that was her first feeling that built her relationship with her most obvious abusers. It was fear.
Can we just appreciate the lyrics tho " Went from *major* to *minor* " " He even let me use his *favorite quill* " " Spilled *ink all over the desk* " Like damn, the lyrics are really good
I really like how the style is Katherine is visiting her memories and sort of trying to convince herself that at least one relationship will work out but none of them do
I love how you show the instruments not being used when she sung about how she was "blowing the flute" as If saying that she isnt literally doing these things but it's just a metaphor.
i can never get over one line, specifically about thomas: 'he says we have this connection...' it's like she's realizing that they just want the same thing from her. she thought he was just a friend, something she desperately needed in her life. she got tired of being used as an object, she saw thomas as an escape route, someone she could count on to have her back. it makes me feel even worse, because katherine only wanted someone to see her as a person, not some object only used to pleasure yourself.
I've been waiting for this video for so long. *SO LONG* well, only a few weeks or so but still! and holy SH*T did you impress. I love how you can see on the face, even with her simpler expressions she isn't as pappy with it all as she seems. it's a nice callback to the fact that some people don't realize. PEOPLE, most of this sh*t WAS. NOT. CONSENSUAL. *or at the very least regretted after/later The men used her, and you can ehar it in her voice as the song goes on. like how the lyrics change from 'please me squeeze me' to '*seize* me squeeze me'
This hurt so much. (You did such a good job!) It shows how people who get victimized at a young age become targets because they get used to being treated like trash and they don’t defend themselves against abuse.
Me: Okay, so I'm kinda hit really hard by the feels it's a miracle that I didn't cry--- Video: *That last part* Me: *incoherent screeching* (I was lying on my back and got shook enough to let my heavy ass tablet fall on my face so No judgies.)
idk but at the first part when she's like "strumming the chords and blowing the flute" the fact that the instruments weren't being used hits so hard. like K was young and innocent and Henry being her music teacher it's easy for him to deceive her. i don't know if this makes sense but I just wanna say this video is mapped out well ❤️
