I appreciate that new support makes old cards and archetypes more usable, but it so rarely is able to make those archetypes actually top tier. Usually it’s because those old cards need so much to be useable (DM or blue eyes), or just you don’t use any of the older cards because they suck (insects) lol. Though it’s still more useable than trying for a BLS deck in 2004/2005 if it’s not a chaos deck.
Honestly, Konami can give the old decks broken support if they want to like Dragoon for example, but I don't think they do because nostalgia will sell it regardless
With other crazy ritual archetypes like Drytron and Cyber Angel that generate numerous advantage there really is no reason why the new BLS couldn't just add a ritual spell from your deck to your hand then discard a card instead of skipping your draw phase. Would help rituals in general which are always at a disadvantage.
YES, you're so right because by sending one card you could send one of the level 4 BLS knights and then you could banish them to summon a Bystial/Collapserpent/Wyverbuster getting the combo going
I run the new BLS card in a Blue Eyes Ritual deck so you can pitch normal Blue Eyes with either chaos form or advanced ritual art and get BLS normal monster effect

As an anime deck only player, yes. I agree. Got to diamond with blackwing but that was probably mainly luck + wasn't a complete blackwing deck had to run cards like red dragon abyys and barrone

Personally, I like playing Anime/Archetype decks that I find cool visually or from gameplay (Traptrix, Starry dragon, Furfright, Suship...) And ngl, it's feels good to beat a meta deck with it 👍
I havent made the new BLS card yet but this could go well with a Blue Eyes deck. Abyss Dragon searches for a ritual spell so long as vanilla BE is on the field or grave which is pretty simple with Dictator of Deez Nutz or BE Alternative. And vanilla BE serves a purpose for the Chaos BE ritual (not MAX) already so now it has dual purpose. I might tweek my deck to include bystials and what not but it’s definitely plausible
One pair of cards you can use are dwarf star dragon planeteer and chaos Daedalus as dwarf star can search any lvl 7 light or dark monster and add it to your hand and chaos Daedalus is a lvl 7 dark chaos monster that protects all light or dark monsters you control from all targeting card effects while there is a field spell in play and he can banish 1 card on the field for each field spell each turn
I dont think the new card is that bad, its a going 2nd deck that works well with the chaos synchro engine which also likes going 2nd. The only issue is building in the ritual stuff consistently but other than that its playable
The new event gave me an idea of how to summon our the new black luster soldier easier, but that doesn't change the fact that it means nothing to have those cards if you're dealing with decks like Kashtira or some use of bystial/deapia or Tearlaments. Konami really did give pick the worst stuff to release lol
I think they made the downside of requiring normal monster for effect in order to prevent strong ritual decks going crazy like Megalith and Drytron but still…😭
I don't care, I show no mercy to Exodia players. Specifically, the ones looking solely to draw it in one turn and not the fun themed ones where I have to deal with obliterate or incarnate. Also, I love ritual monsters, but they constantly feel like they aren't quite good enough in a competitive sense.
If you have diviner herald its nice to have in chaos. Herald send chaos valkerie, collapse serpernt banish valk, valk send, summon barrone continue combo

Hey Rhyme: Would you consider doing a Doom Virus Dragon + Lair of Darkness deck? I'd love to see that, combining a card from my favorite character in all media (Kaiba) with my favorite strategy (using opponent's cards as resources).
You may not like this but ive been having fun playing a Gaia deck i made with this ritual BLS and added the Kashtira engine and its actually fun mainly cus ill play one engine first and my oppnent use all their resources to stop either my kashtira for me to then surprise with my gaia fusion or they stop my fusion for me to then just start banishing with kashtira. The fact that their level 7 also synergizes so well with Xyz.
Wellpredaplant is pretty alright in theory but hilariously every wild ban list update for meta decks smacked that. Semi limited ophy, banned instant fusion and branded fusion at 1 is difficult for the deck 😭
Ultimate Slayer might be a really strong "going second" card for this deck. Versus Baronne (or another synchro), send Herald of the Arc Light for ritual material. Versus Branded/Tear, send Kitkallos to mill 5. Idk for the xyz/link though, maybe the link-2 tribrigade dude that draws a card?
I'd actually suggest you look at the new tryout duel decks for some help building it if you haven't already. I think they gave a us pretty good premade deck for ideas on the new BLS for supporting cards.
@@bernardosales1044 I consistently pulled out the ritual every duel using that Black Swordsman Soul, the super soldier synthesis and other cards that searched for the four stars. Namely Chaos space and the field spell. Even ten thousand hands let me pull that card. It wasn't bricky in the 8 duels I did with it (Yeah I know 3 to get the pack but it was for testing it out) but you're giving it less credit than it deserves I feel. It wasn't some tier 0 or 1 deck but the cards had me pull consistently. Half of those duels I had one of the BLS rituals out with both effects of the evening and beginning knights, and that was plenty enough to hit my opponents cards with two banishes and a hand removal. All I needed was one monster in the hand, and soldier synthesis. Which almost every other card was able to search for, or draw out. Not to mention the extra deck was a good generic like up too, even IF I bricked the hand by pulling out nothing but the 1 star soldier soul. With some tweaks here and there, I feel like it'd go pretty well. Mind you I did say all this and still want to mention that I said look at the deck for ideas, not run the deck! Rhyme was worried about making the earth attribute work, but did you know evening and beginning knight are both light and dark respectively while granting BLS rituals their effect? That's strong paired with a ritual that searches deck AND hand for it's summon, PLUS the choice to add in MORR effects.
This is what I did with bls legendary swordsman was run the dark magician and a poly so if by some luck I get both in my hand I can make master of chaos. Granted dark magician is a dead card. I’m also trying to find a way to throw in a twilight card (the level 4 bls support) and seeing if there effect will work with the swordsman.
oh this is basically a 8 to 10 cards engine. add 3 Gateway to Chaos it can get you everything you need. 3 Gateway to Chaos, 2 Black Luster Soldier - Legendary Swordsman, 1 Advanced Ritual Art, 1 Advanced Ritual Art and 1 Super Soldier Synthesis if you have a field spell in your deck already, 2 Black Luster Soldier - Legendary Swordsman, 2 Advanced Ritual Art, 2 Advanced Ritual Art and 1 Super Soldier Synthesis lets go over the Cards. Gateway to Chaos is a double searchers. that is all. you play it then do your other plays. the problem Black Luster Soldier - Legendary Swordsman is the fact it says "When this attacking card, that was Ritual Summoned using a Normal Monster" but this is an added effect. all of it other effects still works. lets go over the Ritual cards and how they could work. Super Soldier Ritual says " You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels exactly equal 8." but that is the problem as to get the full effect of Black Luster Soldier - Legendary Swordsman you need a normal in your hand. how do we do that. 3 The Melody of Awakening Dragon. add Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon and Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Advanced Ritual Art says "You must also send Normal Monsters from your Deck to the GY whose total Levels equal the Level of that Ritual Monster." is a problem because if you don't have a single normal in your deck at the time you get this, it is a brick... ....but because Black Luster Soldier - Legendary Swordsman can add it. you can run 3 Normal Monsters level 8 just in case and would you look at that, 3 Blue-eyes white dragons fulfill that. no need for The Melody of Awakening Dragon then. but you can't use Trade-in sending Black Luster Soldier - Legendary Swordsman Super Soldier Synthesis can work as it states "This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster from your hand or Graveyard" so if you are going first, you can use Trade-in to send Black Luster Soldier - Legendary Swordsman to the GY and still summon it later. nice... but the problem is this part" You must also send 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster (1 from your hand and 1 from your Deck) to the Graveyard, whose total Levels exactly equal 8." and it is that "1 from your hand and 1 from your Deck" that is the biggest problem. this means you must use 2. of the 3 ritual cards that can summon Black Luster Soldier - Legendary Swordsman, Advanced Ritual Art and Super Soldier Synthesis are the best depending on the situations. which means Super Soldier Synthesis is the worst because you must use 2 monsters. if it was something like Black Luster Ritual and said 8 or more then it would be the best. but just because it is the worst, does not mean it is not playable.
@@rhymestyle I think if it had they same effect as the dragon Knight where because it keeps the name dark magician it's unaffected by effects as long as you have eternal soul it could have fanctioned kinda better

To help me with summoning it. I use Advanced Ritual Art and use two different Magnet warriors to summon it. Its the only cards it lets me sacrifice to summon it so thats what I use. I use that one Gaia Field Spell that puts a gaia monster or BLS from your deck to your hand. My deck uses a bunch of support cards for the monster types I chose lol
There is good anime decks but most anime dm decks suck because they are balanced and constructed around old outdated vanilla monsters, cores of those decks are so flawed that no matter what they do at most they might become playable or only certain engines will be used in better decks like with dragoon.
I play it in my "Yugi Inspired deck". That deck takes some of the cards you see Yugi use in the anime and"upgrade" them. So I use mostly Dark Magician,Gaia,Buster Blader and the new BLS card I now use because it's cool. I've took the liberty of also including the new Obelisk spell card they added and the Dark Magican Curse of Dragon lookin card. I don't know the names by heart but I think it's a cool concept. Too bad I can only duel Solo mode with it though 😔
Finally plays the main card of the video - Forgets how its effects work. Dishonored Black Luster Soldier. Could just do like me and fit in Dark Magician as your normal monster…for every deck. Dark Magician just too fun to play, man. Lol.
advance ritual art > send 2 level 4 normies to the grave to get out swordsman. 10/10 that's a good time, especially since you can reborn this card and STILL keep it's immunity effect in the battle phase... while the other one not so much
The problem is that these cards just rely on nostalgia by itself to sell themselves. Konami doesn't need to make good Blue-Eyes support, people will buy these cards because they feature Blue-Eyes. When making Blue-Eyes at least rogue tier at least will probably boost sales more. People who loved kaiba in the anime can actually have a chance at playing the game, people who hadn't watched the show as a kid now have more options to play the game.
You not wrong tho blue eyes support would be nice Which is the downside of playing non-meta decks they barely release support for the decks while whatever is top meta always got some crazy ass card that didn't release. Some busted deck comes out and people be,"oh you think this is bad wait till this card comes out" like bro 🗿 I just never understood why they making support for whatever deck is top meta sometimes they don't need it wtf konami 😭
@@bigred212 the amount of support doesn't matter. It's quality does. Blue-Eyes is in no shortage of support, the problem most of the support is awful. You can give Blue-Eyes a billion support cards, but if they're all terrible Blue-Eyes won't see competive play anyways. Simply asking for outdated decks to get more support isn't gonna help when said support sucks.
They straight up gave Blue-Eyes a card in 2016 that made them meta since it countered all the other good decks at the time. More recently there’s been really good stuff for synchrons and Superheavy Samurai. They can boost anime decks if they want to.
@@kataphrut7740 which is exactly my point, they can give anime decks support that makes them competitively viable when ever, but often do they give support that doesn't help the deck at all. It's just they don't feel the need to.
Paul from Team APS made a video about this stuff as well... stating they constantly make USELESS cards that won't do anything close to the current meta, despite it being interesting cards, supporting older archetypes...
Man this has been one of the most fun cards added to the game lately! I used the deck on the event and honestly i had a blast with it! Sure it lacks mobility but man it gets me nostalgic and sht!

There have been good anime decks over the history of Yu-Gi-Oh, Salamangreat, Altergeist, Code Talker, Marincess, Sunavalon, Lunalight, Lyrilusc, Fluffal, Dark World, Hero, and others. Blue Eyes even won the world championship one time. Makes you wonder why the two that are most popular, Dark Magician and Egyptian Gods, have never been competitive.

I just got to silver 5 and you will not believe what happened in the duel that ranked me up im using the blackwing structure deck and I was on 650 hp 1 monster my opponent had 4 monsters and one had 7200 atk I draw for turn and i get RIGEKI yes I play it my opponent tries to negate fails and he's left with an open field and the monster that won me the duel was Blackwing full armor master That duel was giving me so much pressure and I won i had that protagonist luck
Untrue! A solid number of Anime decks are really good: -Salamangreats -Borrel/Rokket -Marincess -Sunavalon/Plants The problem is mostly the old decks. It's REALLY hard to make a garbage vanilla monster/vanilla ritual monster good, you know? Beyond that, most older returning players want cards that just remove everything your opponent does, which isn't always a great effect to work with. The problem is mostly that you can't expect DM, BLS, BEWD, etc. to be good, unless they fully redo the decks. Which they won't do, since it's the original vanilla monsters that tend to sell the decks the best.
Yeah. Build an audience organically through the power of social media/youtube/etc. I think nowadays you have to do that especially more than 10 years ago
The duel event is garbage too. You can use the the obelisk stuff in any deck the problem is you gotta draw the spell that banishes the geave and foolish burial goods and the spell that special summons obelisk
I am so dissappointed towards this card, that I have got, but literally NEVER managed to play it Edit: my concept is: make a fully themed "Chaos" or "Black Luster Soldier" deck or an hybrid of the 2 that supports each other well to the point of being really consistent, they should give to said hypotetic deck the possibility to banish cards without being negated and it would be goated
