In Hamburg, Jan visits a mosque that was build by rich Iranians. They're hosting the European Quran Competition where 165 participants from eleven countries compete in reciting verses. He gets the chance to talk to winner Jafar Jafaari. He explains why he decided to come to Germany 15 years ago.
The An-Nour mosque is in a garage and so popular among the Muslim community of Hamburg that the Friday prayers take place in two shifts. An old evangelical church will become the new mosque. The new owner offers guided tours for interested visitors from the neighbourhood in order to gain their trust.
Jan talks with activist and ex-Muslim Zana Ramadani about feminism and the Islamic rules regarding women. She thinks that many politicians are too tolerant. Together they visit Wilden-Wilnsdorf, the place where she grew up in an Islamic family.
Jan witnesses a mass baptism of Muslims who convert to Christianity in a church in Hamburg. A lot of them come from countries where they would face harsh punishment for this decision.

@Noora Yusoff Do not describe all Shias this way. It is true some of them have changed the religion but not the Zaidis. The Zaidis only differ from Sunnis in that they beleive Ali should have been the first Caliph. This is not a religious difference but a political one

Maybe because of the a acculturation, it happen to my country Indonesia. Peoples from middle east bring Islam through trade then get acculturated with local religion. Its different than christianity that spread to Indonesia by colonialization (gold, gospel and glory). Some local traditions still exist even though they do not exist in the Quran or in the hadiths, but these traditions do not violate Islamic teachings because of the results of acculturation.

If women are behind the men, they interpret it literally. When women are given the second floor, literally "above" the men, all of a sudden their faculties fail them. That, they don't interpret literally. It's a house of worship, not a nightclub. Let people worship with as few distractions as possible, both for the men and the women. Plus, it's interesting how they never ask Muslim women if they'd be comfortable praying right next to a man. We know why, because these secularists never care about what Muslim women think. Exactly! and its very strange that he didn't mentioned it . After interviewing so many Muslims he should've known the difference. But they want to make Islam look bad and all Muslims as well. Jan needs to have a real conversation about Islam with a person of knowledge. Also, the bible mentions hate, the killing of woman, children and animals in the most brutal way, 1 Samuel 15:3 and so many other contradictions! Why didn't he mentioned this? why isn't this the highlight of his videos? Because they want to focused on Islam and how is the big boogey man. Is very sad. What the iranian christian convert to christianity is talking at 27:00 is about Mutah marriage which was a pre-islamic custom which prevailed in Arabia. Prophet banned it, so sunnnis do not accept it. But, it is valid among some shias (not all)

Secondly, are you sure for certain that there are no Muslims who practice Mut'a today? Prostitution is the same thing you pay a woman money in exchange for sex or something for a limited time. Also, why did Allah allow it and now Allah prohibits it? Do some Muslims not practice Mut'a ? Surah 9:29: Fight those who do not believe Allah, his messenger,...or the religion of truth. It was Narrated in Sahih Bukhari that Muhammad commanded his commanders that if anyone refuses to accept Islam, or to pay Jizya, fight & kill him. Muhammad also, "if anyone changes his religion, kill him." How do they want recognition when the Quran and the Hadith show how violent Islam is?. Look carefully what I have said above. No one would want to stay in a religion that is devoid of love. Islam is slavery. Since when does one want to stay a slave? Unless he loves his slavery. Do you love your slavery to Allah, Muhammad, or the Quran? Do you love reciting the prayers in exact same words and if you fail to do so, your prayer is no good? Do you love praying 5 times a day?

If you say that I'm taking the Quraninc chapters and verses out of context, it means that Allah is not the best of the communicators. I'm only quoting what is written verbatim in the Quran. Also, how is Allah the best of communicators when he relies on Muslims to give "clear" communication regarding what is written in the Quran? Secondly, the verses I have quoted promote violence, no matter how you look at it. 22:00 This guy is talking about cultural practices. Please you have to differentiate between culture and real teachings of Islam. Also, in Islam the wife is not the man's slave. The prophets wife pbuh was a successful business woman, and she was even the one who proposed to Mohammad pbuh. I watched your previous episodes especially your interview with Imam in Hungary mosque. He ("the Imam") seems prejudice with the media portray Islam on their "channel" which is 99.9% as bad or cruel. And after this so far episode I watch your documentary film, in my opinion you just like the other media or "western main-stream" media being portray Islam as what your "western" value (secular) value to all. Interview Zana Ramadani & "muslim" converted to christianity but there are no "counter-interview" with the correct Imam or Islamic scholar who knows Al-Qur'an & Hadits well. Iran is Shia which not practice Islam as Prophet Muhammad SAW (PBUH) teached.

It was Narrated in Sahih Bukhari that Muhammad commanded his commanders that if anyone refuses to accept Islam, or to pay Jizya, fight & kill him. Muhammad also said, "if anyone changes his religion, kill him." As you can see above, Islam speaks for itself. Islam is a religion of vengeance and violence. And many Muslims practice the teachings above and they are decapitating people for mocking Islam or Muhammad, raping Christian women, etc. Instead of criticizing your violent religion, book, and "prophet," you want to silence those who are exposing them? Do you really love the truth? The truth is no respecter of religion or color or class or origin. Choose the truth, and you will find Jesus of the Bible who said, "I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life."

That is a city in the middle of spain and it there was the last caliphate in history, where christians, jews and muslims had been lived there side by side. Many secularist, I included, have very different ideologies, in which we can be quite fundamentalist about - including strict separation of church/temple/mosque and state. While I'm not atheist, I absolutely don't want anybodies religion giving me laws to follow. And definitely not Abrahamic or Hinduist.

I can't bear to say that the most ppl you met were full of false claimed in explaining the truth of Islam. The major reason the imam refuse to receive the funding from saudi & middle east countries to build the mosque bcoz they know their belief in practicing of islam is totally contradict they should be did in order of quran. Not at all you can not treat badly a "bad" woman different than a "good" woman. Once in the life of Prophet Muhammad PBUH a woman who was a well know prostitute meaning "bad" woman in the eyes of every one. The Prophet was eating his meal. The women approached him and said to him that what kind of Prophet you are that you do not allow some one like me to eat with you. The Prophet asked her to sit with him and eat. As she sat there to eat then she again told him that i want that the bite which is in your mouth. the Prophet took out the bite he has taken to his mouth and gave it to her.. After that the women repented from her prevoius life and has the most noble women in the city... Please if you have any misconception about anything in Islam ask the right person. I am a Muslim I have deep respect for every kind of women.. There is saying that dont hate the person hate his sins... May be he changed his life and become even better than you some time...

This is when we talk of Dar Al-Harb. But, if we speak of what happens in Muslim countries, such as Saudi Arabia, some areas in Muslim Algeria, or as we heard a few days ago, in Syria, this is forbidden, brothers! This is the land of the Muslims. We must never do this in a Muslim country."

@@karimal-jazairi4583 what is the tradional islam ? arabic culture ? u are use jewish hat at mosque, sumerian headscarf, arabic clots, byzantine style mosques. and call it "traditional" THERE İS NO BİG MOSQUE İN İSLAM" u can pray everywhere , in turkey there is no school in some villages but there is 2 mosq , and nobodoy goes to mosq except friday pray. so ı am asking to you is there friday pray in quran ? is there hijab ?

There is no such thing as "islamic Fashion", Islam is a religion not a culture. There are mosques in England which look like protestant churches, so what? Sunni Islam is traditional Islam. To both of your questions: yes, hijab and jumu'ah prayer are in the Qur'an

The girl who said Quran says Kill the unbelievers . Sis Wheree ??? If you knew the story behind every verse you wouldn't say that . Allah literally said in the Quran "Let there be no violence in religion" , and "Fight against the unbelievers until they cease persecuting you, but if they desist, then let there be no hostility." There's a whole chapter in Quran called the unbelivers where Allah says : Say, “O disbelievers, I do not worship what you worship. Nor are you worshippers of what I worship Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship. Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship. FOR YOU IS YOUR RELIGION , FOR ME IS MY RELIGION .”

I'm from Indonesia, a predominantly muslim country. And we once had female presidents in our country, and there were many women who are heads of schools, heads of offices, members of the People's Legislative Assembly, police, judges in our country. In your opinion, does a muslim majority country have no democracy??

Hasan Özdağ and his family are the only Turkish people in the video I guess. The fact that they are open-minded and secular made me very happy. They preserve Atatürk's mindset and vision.

I like this series but i do find it interesting that for some reason people think that christianity=European mentality/ openness and that is straight up not true😅 The people who chose to change their religion dont even know half the things that are said in the bible.

@@tlg5003 - you have not read it then at all. Go away and read it with an open mind and it will surprise you. Firstly, it is the first book in the Arabic language and secondly, it is unedited - just you try finding any other book which has not been edited in any language. Thirdly, it is the only religious work which urges the reader to think. Ponder on that.

@@stephenconnolly1830 i tried to read it couple of times, not a profound book. obviously written in a hurry by some Ron Hubbard of the 5th or the 6th century who saw a potential to repeat the christian story but with new characters and in the middle east amongst relatively related ethnic groups. if you have to admire someone in that aspect - admire the romans, the christianity is the first grand religious unification on a large scale created to help running a large empire. you dont think there is a god, do you?

No. To learn the Qur'an, you read it and takes it original literal meaning. If you want to find other meaning and other intrepetation that clearly differ from the original and literal meaning of the text in order to suit or comfort your personal understanding about Islam, then you go to expert. The funny and silly thing is, when the words in the book is not controversial with the morality of today modern times, the followers take it literally and said that is the proof this religion is good but when comes to the weird, controversial and aggresive passages, they said hold on, don't take it literally lets find the other meaning, we must not take it literally. It just so dumb.

Who cares who the Pope is? Rather than answer the questions around equality in Islam (Islam being the subject of this video, not Catholicism) you're just indulging in deflection, by attempting to divert the issue from Islam to elsewhere. Address the question at hand and stop deflecting! Besides, two wrongs don't make a right so your attempt at moral relativism doesn't absolve Islam of its Patriarchal structure (which admittedly the Catholic church shares).
