I have this Bible as well as the Schuyler Quentel both in goat skin and NASB. I want to like the Allan. But I cannot get over the lack of line matching, though the ghosting is not bad, and the leather seems thin and rough as compared to the Schuyler. Plus, it is glued at the edges to cover the Bible while the Schuyler is stitched. I LOVE my Schuyler. Font is a little big, but it is easy to read and mark in. It is my goto Bible now. My wife has a Crossway Heirloom legacy in goatskin - another beautiful one

Can I ask how does highlighting and underlining in the 28GSM Schuyler do with Pigma micron pens and mr.pen gel highlighters or in general how much see through on the next page will show I can sometimes highlight full pages like Ephesians and Romans Colossians and others that’s why I ask.

@@Giancarlo_1997 i can tune in on that, ohhhh man one book in my bible has some see ghosting let me tell you. but it does take the red ink with no see through with the pigma .005. blue and black is a no on my schuyler i think

I have a couple of Allan's as well as schuylers, and to me they are the best in the business of high quality bibles. You wont be disappointed with either. I have to say that my favorite is the nasb readers that just come out. Everything I want in a everyday bible. I love the wide yapp and verse by verse format. Also liking the 36 GSM paper with minimal ghosting. Out of all the schuylers I own, the thinline nasb credo is my favorite. Just love the thin profile with bold 11 point font and historic church creeds and confessions are so much fun to have in an everyday bible. Just my opinion but I hope it helps with any decision making. I spent several hours debating which bible to order because I am so indecisive. Hard to stop once you get one of these in your hand. It makes reading so enjoyable. You will not be disappointed with either company.

Another great video! I am completely torn between the Schuyler Thintel and the new Allan Reader's. I can only afford one of them and I just don't know which one to get. I prefer the perimeter stitching on the Schuyler but I also prefer the verse by verse of the Allan. I am looking forward to your video comparing the two.

Well I get that you want line matched but that text print isn’t done by 2K/Denmark or a company like them but rather that’s a Lockman Foundation print bro. Allan just had a different company print and bind a text block for them with that text print. On my Allan NASB Readers it shows Jongbloed bound and printed mine. But yeah man, that’s a Foundation print. Allan’s done a few foundations actually. Their older NASB side column had the rich French paper in it and so Allan just used that whole block and just put Allan leather on it. That paper was so fine. Like 45GSM or something but it is the same paper found in the Lockman Foundation’s In Touch Ministries bible with wide margin and with super supple edge lined calfskin leather. That paper is amazing.. It also has an encouragement page by Charles Stanley right in the first page. But yeah that side column NASB had that same French paper in it. I have all of those In Touch bibles. Blue, Burgundy, and Black. Amazing flexibility!

What website do you use to buy new Allan Bibles?
@davidleebrown3956
@davidleebrown3956 4 года назад
their website is: www.bibles-direct.co.uk ... in the U.S., the only place that sells them is: evangelicalbible.com ... other than that, you have to buy them used or on Facebook groups.

Dave I just picked up my first Allan Readers and love everything about it except the leather cover. What a disappointment! I guess it’s goatskin but doesn’t feel any nicer than the genuine leather on some of the $50-$60 dollar bibles. Would you agree? Compared to my Schuyler’s, well there is no comparison. 😩

Hi David! I love you and your wife. I just picked up this Allan NASB R1 P with 36 gsm paper. Beautiful! I love your reviews. This is my first NASB! I have a question about the bolder numbers in each chapter. What does that mean? God bless you as you work in your new house!!🙏🏻💙

Doreen Groenewold -Thank you so much! The bold numbers signify a new paragraph (according to the translators).

I'll never buy an Allan because they don't line match. There is no excuse not to, for what they charge.
@ForeWard76

danbuter to be fair to Allan, they are innocent in that regard. Like all of the Bible editions they print & bind, the text block belongs to another publisher. My understanding is they cannot legally change it because it belongs to the Lockman Foundation... But then again, I’m no expert. I just love the Word & God’s people. All I’m peace & love; never meant to challenge or offend. I could be wayyy off on this. Much love to all ✝️💟🙏🏾

I contacted the Lockman Foundation a few hours ago, and this is what I was told: “Line matching requires a new typesetting, and licensed publishers are free to do that for their current editions… We're looking into a plan with some publishers to create new typesetting that would be line matched and hope to have details in a few months. This would be for both the 1995 and 2020.” All of my Cambridge Wide Margin bibles are flawlessly line-matched, regardless of translation. KJV, NKJV, NASB, ESV-doesn’t matter. In contrast to this, Allan has stubbornly refused to ensure that their texts are line matched. Sadly, they seem to think that a fine goatskin binding is of primary importance, while the quality of the text is of little concern. Consider how many editions they have produced with poor quality Asian-sourced text blocks. As I noted in the comments section of a previous video, I recently purchased-and promptly returned-an Allan ESV New Classic Readers Reference Edition with the same 36 gsm paper, also printed by Royal Jongbloed. The ghosting due to the lack of line matching was appalling. It was chaos on the page and a most unpleasant reading experience! I believe that if enough people are enlightened and voice their displeasure to Allan, the issue will corrected.

Fred Eskridge -KJV is Allan’s main gig. They have comparable lines that are nicer than the Readers in many cases.

Suggestion: why not critique the translation as to its accuracy in comparison to the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts, instead of its format, quality of print, flexibility of the cover, and other things that are not necessarily important to most people? Thanks for considering this.
@davidleebrown3956
@davidleebrown3956 5 лет назад
Thanks! -there is actually a great interest in the materials and aesthetics of many editions. People often want to see and hear about these things before they purchase. Bible reviews are by far my most viewed video genre. I appreciate your suggestion, but that's not what this video is for. -And just assuming based on your comment, if I did a video on that... we'd most likely disagree 🤷‍♂️
@mikerichards1498
@mikerichards1498 5 лет назад
@@davidleebrown3956 It was only a suggestion. No underlying motive of ungodliness was intended. My experience is this: the videos that actually address the issues of accuracy of translations as compared to the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek are by far the most popular. Their viewers often number in the hundreds or thousands. The videos that discuss matters of print quality, binding, width of text, and the like usually register a few dozen views. And if you did actually critique translations by comparing them to Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek there may not be any substantial disagreement between us. I refuse to judge that till the appropriate time. The wisdom of YAHWEH, the God of Spiritual Israel is seen when the necessary facts are the basis of judgment.

Hi brother😉 I have the Allan reader 1st edition in blue and love it. The new ones have better paper they are improving I love that but I'm getting turned off with heavy paper when I know thin paper can have great opacity if they use the right stuff. Ghosting doesn't really bug me unless its really bad but yes line matching would fix this issue. LPUT ...large . print . "ULTRA THIN"😏 hummm Love ya bud.
