Thank you ! Sold it a few years ago. Now I've developed something far superior called the Gold Rattler. Check it out when you have a chance. I will be scheduling Gold Rattler camps this fall at the claim.
Your setup reminds me of a handyman who rides around here in a well kept old panel truck with 'Damn Foolish Notion' painted on the sides. He does pretty well and is proud to tell you his wife came up with his company's name.
Thanks for the nice compliments ! Please check out the other trommel videos on my channel. BTW, do you know there's a movie "Gods Army ?" Good luck prospecting !
Thanks for the kind comments Jay. Amazing to see this video over 650k views. Who would have thought ? Thanks for being a dedicated subscriber. Will be posting another video this Wednesday about the Pima Air & Space Museum....
Thanks Mike ! When I embarked on this project a couple years ago, I was surprised to find a multitude of DIY variations. Awesome to think there are many folks out there enjoying the same. Best wishes on your gold prospecting adventures !

I love watching the adaptations of this type trommel. I know I will use this process in the future when I make it out west to do some prospecting. I'm looking forward to digging in something other than red clay ! Alan I wish you the best of luck out in the gold fields and thanks for sharing the details of your wash plant. I wish I had seen this video before I built my small trommel, I just have to build one of these along with the water filtering portion. We have been under drought conditions on our club's claims for several years now. Thanks again
Thank you for your kind compliments. Wish you good luck in your prospecting adventures ! In one of the washes on my property, I have found good gold in red clay. Very difficult to extract with a dry washer. Wash plant definitely makes a difference ! Due to high silt content in that clay, the feed rate needs to be reduced to give time for the dewatering trommel to catch up.
@@allansgoldmining Your very welcome Allan. Yes, we are part of a rather large community. Gold prospecting is very much alive again. Looking forward to your videos.
Wow that is really cool it looks like it works You should let everyone know that when recirculating material you will lose about 35 gallons per yard. If it is hot or windy that number will increase. Looks like a simple quality product. Mark
Mark, I'm flattered to hear from a popular mining manufacturing company. Thank you for the kind compliments and comments. As you can tell, I'm using one of your A52 Sluices. I really like the fine ribbed matting on the head of the sluice. Traps a lot pickers ! Your comments regarding water usage is correct. I've also noticed if the material contains considerable moisture (substantial rain this past month) the water replenishment is reduced. Bone dry summer material will definitely be a different story. Thanks again. Best wishes in your prospecting adventures !

Genius design , to wash 1,000 pounds of material with 100 gallons of water is amazing , great design , thanks for sharing here . Happy digging and good luck .
Thanks for the great compliments ! Glad you enjoyed the video. Currently designing a new trailer mounted wash plant that will use less than 100 gallons to process a cubic yard (2,200 lbs.). Best of luck to you prospecting !
Love your channel name ! I'm a pilot too. Would like to try flex wing or paramotor. Thanks for watching ! It was my first wash plant video I ever posted on RU-vid. A lot has evolved over the years ! Best of luck to you prospecting. 🤠⚒⛏👍👍👍
Awesome stuff Allen! Love the wash plant, love and appreciate the hard work that you do, showing greenhorns like myself and others ways to get going with common hardware store items and the insight behind it
Thanks for the compliments Steve. Many years ago (1980's ?) Action Mining came out with a Gravity Wave Table that was very effective for fine gold recovery. They wanted way too much $$$, so I copied the designed for my own purpose. Worked exceptionally well recovering fine gold from our lode mining adventure. Perhaps you can do the same ?
I'd say you have done everything right. Recovery using water is much more efficient than dry washing. Electric motors are more efficient and reliable than gas engines. The tailings is where the gold is at because over the years the oversize that went through the old timers dry washers has been broken down by weathering. Nice design of equipment. My guess is that you had years of experience prior to this project or you did a lot of research. I have run a larger battery/solar trammel for over ten years, it is the only way to go. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the kind compliments Steve ! It takes more effort to set up, but "going wet" is definitely the way to go. You are correct regarding the tailings. Most of the good gold is on the surface and easy diggings. I have a theory that the bedrock material was the last thing they processed, which naturally would be on top of the pile. They also never had the convenience of a gas powered shop vac to suck up the bedrock crevasse. Finding lots of good "pickers" down there ! I've been a lode and placer miner for over 35 years as a hobby. I also build model airplanes and telescopes. Hope you've been successful with your wash plant over the years, and wish you good luck in your prospecting adventures !
Nope. Wash all rocks up to 4 inches. Larger stones I manually throw out. Thanks for watching ! Check my channel and the evolution of the wash plant. Good luck prospecting !
I don't plan on manufacturing this trommel. However, I invite you to visit my channel where you'll find a three-part series on how to build one. Video's 2 & 3 has a parts list at the end. Also watch my latest Gold Rattler wash plant videos. That's the machine I plan to manufacture. Best of luck prospecting !
Thanks for the compliments ! Wish the best on your wash plant design. Post a video when you get it running. Also, check out my video on how to improve dry washer recovery.
Awesome set up bro. All you need is a Renogy 100 watts 12 volts monocrystalline foldable solar suitcase hooked up to those batteries to keep them in good working order for endless run times. Best of luck to you.
Thanks Joe ! Yeah, I've been thinking about something like that. Also considering a wind generator. Currently, the two deep cycles give me about 7 hours of power. By then I'm tired shoveling ! LOL ! Good luck with your prospecting adventures too !
Glad you liked the videos. Yeah, give Snake River a call. They make a complete insert for your A52. I have in mine too ! Makes a huge difference, especially on the fine gold.
@@allansgoldmining already looked them up.. The idea of being able to put a finer Matt without the water rushing under it . is awesome.. I scrapped the idea of using V matting because it was letting water and pay dirt under the matting
@@allansgoldmining hey Allan if you're every in the Phoenix are the GPAP holds their meetings on the first Thursday each month if you could be a guest speaker some time they would love it.
Great video Allan. Very unique design the way you are filtering the water through the bottom trommel. !/2 gram per yard is fairly meager unless you're able to crank out the yardage. The part I wouldn't like about reprocessing tailings is that there is little likelihood of ever hitting a nice nug. The nice part about it is the digging is much easier than virgin material. Maybe you'll find a nice stretch of unworked bedrock full of big stuff. Nice work. Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind compliments Nick ! it's amazing what the old timers left behind. Can only imagine the nice nuggets they found. However, they did a poor job cleaning bedrock. My shop vac takes total advantage of this. Finding nice pickers in the cracks ! Eventually, I'll find virgin ground. Best wishes in your prospecting adventures !
Hi Allan, I really liked your set up. A few years ago I thought I would love to be doing what you are doing, it looks like fun work with a chance of a Jackpot. It beats setting at home on your butt. Your equipment is well designed and except for your water trailer it doesn't look like you have a lot invested. Although you would never see it, but being born under the sign of Aries I can be a very impatient person, so the panning would be work for me. LOL A few years ago I came across a built gold reclaim machine called "The Gold Lab". All the parts including the battery fit into a plastic tote. Once you classified the pay the machine did all the work. I did go back to their website and it looks like there hasn't been much activity in several months. I could see this machine going hand in hand with your machine. Plus 'The Gold Lab' doesn't use much water. If you haven't seen the video's on 'The Gold Lab', you might enjoy watching how they had designed the machine. They said it caught all the gold including the 'flower gold'. Take care and be well. The Best of Luck. Bill
Hi Bill. Thanks for the compliments and ideas. I checked out the Gold Lab videos. Quite an interesting set-up for feeding a Blue Bowl. Normally, I pan the sluice cons with a Fossicker Maverick Pan (sold by Snake River Products) which makes quick work of ridding the light stuff. From there, I classify the cons into 20, 40, 60 mesh, then feed into the Blue Bowl. So much easier than panning all those fines ! The panning in the video was for demonstration only. Wish you good luck in your prospecting adventures !
this is a kick-butt setup .. cleans the material and gives screening - I'll bet you could even do something with the 'waste' --- I'm not sure what that is but i'm sure it has value/purpose to somebody for something ....
Het thanks for the kind compliments Robert ! That's the video that got me started ! Didn't think I would get even a hundred views, let alone 600K ! Was totally floored ! That's why a produced the trommel build series. Hundreds of folks have built it. Kinda fun. 👍 Yeah, some folks thing I should sell the clay for pottery, while others, as a beauty facial treatment. Lol ! Thanks for watching, and good luck prospecting. 🤠⛏⚒👍
@@allansgoldmining That's amazing, it is a good and cost effective design, no wonder why it would be so popular. There prob. are alot of pottery needs for clay, just that shipping might get in the way. On the other hand, bentonite clay has alot of antitox properties - so as health remedy use, there is benefit. Not sure how much refining would be needed or if bentonite clay only comes from certain areas. I see here it says volcanic ash clay ... no volcanos in the area I take it ?
No volcanos in the area. Just extrusive or intrusive granite and ryholite. Most of gravel containing gold are metamorphic. My spoof on the cosmetic value would be it contained particles of gold to preserve beauty. 😆 !
You did a great job designing your system for the location. Well done. Thx. P.S. I visited your site and subscribed because I saw you on Jeff Williams' channel.
Thanks Randy for compliments and subscribe. Glad you liked the video. Will post more soon. Isn't Jeff Williams videos fun to watch ?! Best wishes on your prospecting adventures !
nice I made one kind of like that good idea with the wiper motor. I got mine hook up to my jobe sluice and a gold cube and a hand crank. Great for packing in to thouse places way out there.load the dolly and go.
In this particular video I was using a 12 volt 3500 gph bilge pump. Currently use a 1 1/2" gas powered semi-trash pump. Please check out some of my latest wash plant videos. Thanks for watching !
Oh, no doubt ! Actually, it's forsake here in US. $350 US. Check out my latest invention called the Gold Rattler. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3xLrOrDDbgc.html
Actually, the plastic buckets will rot faster in the sun. However, my unit stays in a shed when not in use. So, it should last a very long time. Thanks !
Thanks for your questions. The black sand is mostly magnetite and other ferris oxides. Takes about 15 -25 hours to build wash plant, provided you have all the materials. Check out my Trommel Build series on my channel.
Very impressed. Question, do you run your tailings though once more or ? Just finished my first trommel build, working on the wash system now cant wait to find those old timer tailing piles! Thanks for your insight and painless viewing experience, actually enjoyed wathing very much. Michael T. Parma Idaho.
Thanks for your kind compliments Mark ! Check out my 3 part "Trommel Build" series on my channel. It will help up you all the details. A complete parts list is at the end of series 2. Best of luck to you on your prospecting adventures !
Most parts can be found in hardware store or online. Please watch my trommel build series. On the 2nd and 3rd video, I have a supply list at the end. Perhaps some items might not be available in your country, however, you might be able to modify the design to suit your needs. Best of luck to you ! 🤠⚒️⛏️👍
I will forward the videos and reply to my cousin. We want to start washing tailings for gold alongside the buying and selling business. Thank you so much for the valuable information@@allansgoldmining
It looks amazing. Seriously! I am trying to get a recirculating set up build that fits on my trailer so I can take it around and prospect in san diego. My question to you is, how do you deal with the specific gravity of the water changing over time? I notice that my recovery rates start to go to junk very quick. I have been working on a cyclone separator in hopes of getting a better separation of water and material. Once the water collects enough material and the specific gravity goes up all the flour gold is lost and as we both know thats MOST of whats out there to recover. How much recovery do you get off air sifted tailings must be super nice to scoop right off the top with no over burden.
Thanks for your compliments and questions. I have a considerable amount of flower gold on my property too. Your concerns regarding water viscosity are very important. I generally purge the water (about 40 gallons) every half yard. This may vary depending on silt or clay content. For example, this past weekend I was working bedrock, which had low silt content, so I ran the plant most of the day without purging. I like your idea of a cyclone. Would certainly do a good job separating, especially if you could get it to work with a 200 mesh screen. Wish all the best in your prospecting adventures !
Fantastic system set-up. I tried the same thing, running it with windshield wiper motors a few years back, but never put it to use as it was more experimental. Now we're in some great ground that's producing, eh, 7 or so grams per yard. Thing is, it's the dirt out of our excavation of a lode mine. Any other updates you've given it other than what shows in Jeff William's video of your system?
Thank you for the kind compliments. Sounds like you're on some very good ground ! I'm drooling with envy. LOL ! I have a few updates that I'm currently working on. Hope to have a new video published this by this fall. I recently replaced the 12 volt bilge pump with a 3hp gas powered 1 1/2" trash pump. At idle, it pumps plenty volume for the trommel and sluice. Best of all, I can use it to dredge out the -60 mesh silt from the tubs with ease ! Also working on a simple tailings conveyor. All these accessories to make mining easier ! Best of luck to you and your prospecting adventures !
Allan Guthmiller if you haven't thought about it, boat trailer rollers could work quite well for conveyor idlers. I built more miles of conveyors than I want to think about working the summers for my dad in college. Also, its just a short step from a conveyor to a radial stacker.
MAN!! That is AWESOME! I see that there's some mud clinging to the 1st trommel, and some spilling out of the 1st Trommel (not much). Have you considered running small sprayers along each side of the 1st trommel so its spraying it down while it spins? That way it is always clean and even that much more effective? The water would still run down the original recycle too. Maybe something like PVC with holes drilled facing the trommel? This thing is awesome! What would you say your cost was (besides the sluice, I would make one I think).
Hi Rodney. Thanks for the compliments, questions, and close observations. I have made a few modifications since this video, including correcting the mud spillage off the lower cowling on first trommel. Added a metal shroud over the upper half of trommel. This allows better mixing and separation in the wash. Also using a new set of riffles, and modifying the dewater trommel with a 400 mesh screen and extending the length. Hope to have a new video with all the mods in a few months. Stay tuned ! Good luck in your prospecting adventures !
Allan Guthmiller can't wait to see it. What do you think production costs of that was? Do you plan on making a kit and selling it? Maybe that could be your gold lol
That's great ! Check out my 3 part Trommel Build series on how to make one. At the end of parts 2 & 3 I include a supply list. Best of luck to you ! 🤠⚒⛏👍
Awesome man. Jeff sent me here. Hey. Nice setup. You ever think about putting goldhog mats in that? I had really good luck with them when I did a cheap/made e. high banker. The most costly part of it! ha. But, could really move materiel. sub'd. Yo from Idaho!
Hi Jamie. Thanks for the nice compliments. My friend uses Hog mats in his unit and does well. I'm intrigued by the mats from Snake River Products because their mats do an excellent job recovering fine gold and significantly reduces black sand. On my claim, the black sand runs about 20 - 30%. Also, I can reduce the sluice angle to 2:1 and flow to 1500 gph. Always tinkering around. LOL ! Best wishes to you in your prospecting adventures !
How much tailings did you process to get this amount of gold in gold pan. Do you sell instructions on how to build your water filtrations recycling system?
itillbeme1 thank you for your questions. First, the panned results in this video was one of three pannings from the sluice concentrates. All three pannings were about the same. On a previous clean out got a pea size nugget ! Second, about 8 (5 gallon) bucket loads, which is about 500lbs. Not bad for tailings. Can't wait to find virgin ground.
Thanks for the compliments Marshall. It takes about 15 minutes to set up. You can see in the video, there are green fence posts driven into the ground. There are hooks attached for the trommel and sluice to rest on. These remain on site and pre set to the proper angles. Each time I arrive on site, I simply drop the equipment into place. Recovery rate is about 98%. Best wishes to you and your prospecting adventures.
So Is that regular magnetic s they use for advertising on vehicles. I'm looking to add some to my minimax from Keene I like fossickers equipment, I would listen to Mr fossicker very closely
Genius! My only concern was that the water flow across the sluice box was not uniform and laminar...it seemed to all rush to the right side (when looking uphill)...which then created a turbulent ridge of water all the way down the sluice box. I have always had the highest recovery when the flow profile was the same from wall to wall in the box...and considering how long I take to tune the box to find the "sweet spot" between angle, flowrate and riffle/moss sizes...the last thing I want to introduce is a wildcard like crazy flow. I think it boils down to the effective flowrate of the feed hopper/scrubber/spray head is not the same as the effective flowrate across the sluice box...you almost need a short circuit for some of the water leaving the first trommel to go directy back to the hopper/scrubber...maybe a dewatering screen over the flare end of the box into a secondary pump feeding the hopper.. You won't lose any gold, not even flour gold...because the water and any suspended sediment never leaves the system...and eventually it will all travel down the sluice. I know when it comes to gold mining, everyone thinks they are an expert...and at the end of the day, the proof is in the pan...but since you too are a fan of Gold Rush, see Season 2, Episode 7 to see why I am so crazy about sluice box flow. May you hit the Mother Lode!
Thanks for the compliments and comments Chuck. Actually I've made several modifications to the wash plant sense that video was posted. I had the same concerns. I plan to post an update video soon. In the meantime, you can log onto Ask Jeff Williams channel and view his trommel video from a couple months ago. I explain some of the modifications.
Hallo Allan, I can't take my eyes of your invention!.. I keep coming back here to see and to observe the simplicity of your work art!.. The gold is where is...but surely having the good equipment does prevent you from feeling disappointed most of the time. Set up is so good, it would probably pass our BC regulations where you can't dump the tailings near the running creeks, and this is mostly where there is lots of floating flakes and dust. I am wondering if this set up would allow to keep the flour gold as well?.. I using the pan, found areas where the flour makes the black sand almost yellow, but seperating it,....is another story!.. Thank you for sharing your invention, and explaining the whole process and materials used!.. This is very informative.
Hi Albin. Glad you're enjoying the video ! Thank you for your kind compliments. Yeah, I don't see why it wouldn't work for you in BC and dealing with regulations. I recently posted a video on how to build a trommel. It's a 3 part series. Parts 1 & 2 are posted. Part 3 should be up soon. Search Allan's Gold Mining Wash Plant - Trommel Build (part 1) or (part 2). Good luck with your prospecting adventures !
Oh, man you are busy!.. I am also, but removing the snow from the driveway, and the road connecting me to the rest of the world!. This is the reason I am so much on the internet, because at times there is no way out of here!..so much I got this winter. When it all is gone, I will try to find time to look at the grounds!.. Thank you for posting your inventions!.. Lovely work, and the mind behind it!..
