In a development that has been hailed as a major victory in the fight against illegal mining in the mineral rich Sekhukhune area in Limpopo, two suspected illegal mining kingpins have appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrate's Court, near Burgersfort.
Justine and Gary Mitchell have been released on R5 000 bail each. The pair face four charges, relating to the December 2023 recovery of chrome worth R20-million.

It is important to acknowledge that crime knows no single face, even though we are often led to associate it with poor Africans trying to make ends meet. Thank you for bringing this to light and challenging the powerful racial stereotypes that persist in South Africa. By sharing this truth, we can begin to build a more honest and fair narrative that reflects the complexities of our society.
