Allen & Heath CQ-18T | Bluetooth & Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues **UPDATE** 

Hi, just subscribed to your channel. A sound tech that can master the CQ and put up a video on it and call it "CQ For Dummies", would be a God send. I'm an old school musician who recently bought a CQ18T for my small-venue band. I managed a basic mix, but I'd really like to move on from there. Most of what I find online about the CQ is more like an infomercial rather than something instructional.

Glad you got issue resolved. I own an SQ5 and a QU16 and both work great. If you are looking for a bigger mixer maybe an SQ5 and a stagebox. It would be cheaper than the advantis and alot smaller.

There are so many options out there. Being mainly a solo musician for a few decades I used the Bose L1M2 with the T1 tone match. I REALLY wanted to get the new T4 Bose mixer but ive seen a few vids of people using them and them overheating and bricking in the middle of a gig. I sold my Bose system when i retired from live shows 6 years ago but want to have a small pa for personal use thats why Im looking for another mixer. I am planning on getting some EV ZLX12's since Ive owned around 10 of them and they are great. Glad you got this sorted out

Brian I always enjoy watching/listening to your videos. Even though you didn't have the best luck with you first unit, I did buy a CQ-18T. I really wanted to get the QSC Touchmix, but it's so dated I had a hard time pulling the trigger. It arrived this past Friday, and I used it yesterday at a wedding. I fumbled around a little because I'm still learning where everything is. But, it worked flawlessly for me. I haven't figured out how to record internally, but I did record through an external recorder, and my dynamics have never been good. Thanks for the initial video making me away of this product.

One issue I've noticed when trying to connect my computer (desktop or tablet) to the CQ-18T is that the connection to the CQ-18T's own wifi signal must be the ONLY connection active on the (connecting) computer - trying to run the computer with multiple network connections, even if one is hardwired, seems to prevent the CQ-18T from connecting to the CQ Mixpad app - the device shows up in the network options list as expected, and the computer will connect to the device in the network connection as expected - but the APP will NOT connect to the device if ANY other network connections are active - this kinda sucks and I'd love to know a workaround if you have one

Hi Brian, i have few concerns with this. 1) Can I use hardware compressors or other outboard gears in anyway with this. 2) Can I play a minus one track via bluetooth or USB and record the band as well at the same time with all the tracks using multi track recording feature? 3) What are the other important limitations that this mixer has.. and is there any other gear that replaces this at this price point?

Hi there. Long time viewer. first time commenter. I bought a QSC touchmix for my DJ gigs but not entirely happy with it. When you review the CQ mixer, I'd love if you would address some of the things I'm looking for...And here they are. I'm running generally 2 mics, and four stereo inputs (from two DJ controllers, one iPod, plus one Bluetooth rcvr). The toucmix lets you link 2 channels together to make a stereo input. So I link 3&4, 5&6, 7&8 for 3 stereo inputs. I use a dedicated stereo input for the Bluetooth which is generally used to run slide show audio from a presenter's laptop instead of running 50 ft of cable to their headphone out. Making "stereo channels" is a must have for me. Next...I need side-chain compression so when my MC and Motivators are out on the dance floor getting the crowd hyped on the mic, I can compress the music channels a few db when they are on the mics. Next...I need to keep my subwoofer out and mains out channels' levels locked together while I can adjust levels of booth out or delays (all post fader) without affecting the mains levels. On the touchmix, the levels stay perfect only in pre-fader mode. Putting them in post fader brings their levels down and so i need to push them higher and then that affects the mains levels. It's annoying. Also , the CQ interface is EONS beyond the touchmix and I find that useful. So, when you do your review, if you able to address any of mine concerns I'd be grateful. Thanks Brian. Hi, so I’m interested in both the Allen and Heath QU16 and CQ18T. I play in a 3 piece band (lead/rhythm/bass/vocals and harmony) occasionally drums. seeing as the QU is a bit dated, what do you recommend me investing in, in 2024? Thanks for your time!

I've been on the fence between A&H CQ18 or Yamaha DM3S. I don't need Dante. Priority for me is ease of use/user interface/intuitive. A&H is better priced and easier to use in my opinion. While not in the same ballpark, the Mackie DLZ Creator has a great UI where you tell the unit if you want beginner mode, intermediate mode, or pro mode. Each mode having more parameters the more advanced you go. I wish more mixers offered that as it would appeal to more customers.

can you connect computer with this with USB cable and play sound from computer to speakers?

Given that I'm having similar issues, what analyzer did you use? I've gotten similar "try this" responses thus far

I have sort of the same issue go into your system settings on the mixer and type in the IP address. That’s on the mixer and enter that onto your iPad and It will connect the devices.

Any update on this? Also having connection issues at the gig with it. Kept dropping.

have you looked into Waves LV1 with Touch controller? Very Compact

Any real differences between this and yhe behringer x18, exept the added screen?

I have the CQ20B and the Bluetooth and WiFi work great on mine…..however….I noticed my Bluetooth cutting out at a live show when the two guitarist had their wireless systems on and I had my vocal mic on. That is my only issue, pretty sure it was interference. Because it was a benefit show and had multiple bands playing, that band was the only band using more than 1 wireless system and it was the only time I had the issue. Other than that it was a work horse. Just an fyi in case you come across events where multiple wireless systems are being used

What Wi-Fi analyzer do you use?

The other big drawback with the DM3 for me was only two FX engines.

I have the CQ18T - I can’t get output from my Studio One DAW. Has anyone had a similar issue?

I tried going out as a solo vocalist with my RCF Jimx8 and the app. My gut instinct said take the analogue mixer.... and yep, my intuition was right. tablet kept freezing and its not good at multi tasking two apps, even though I did work out how to run them side by side.

Thoughts about the Tascam Sonicview?

Used my CQ20B today for an event wifi dropped out 15 times 😂 being sent back tomorrow what a joke

It uses Bluetooth 4.1 FFS shit range and shit sound quality! You could add a 5.1/2 or3 receiver however there goes your stereo input!
