I Saw Allen two times this Year .. First in Nijmegen/ Netherlands @ Dornroosje which was absolutely awesome .. One of the best Live Music Venues i`ve ever visited.. proper acoustic situation supposed for Live Music ... Went 300 km to Netherlands cause i`ve thought that could be the only possability to see him nearby my hometown cologne .. A Couple of days after that i`ve got a pop up from the app "bands in town" , that allen is goin play an additional bonus concert... IN COLOGNE !! Just 600m away from my flat.. canceled a weekend with my girl to see him again @ Luxor Cologne... The second Concert was awesome too, but the band seemed to be a little bit tired.. not the same magic as in nijmegen .. Anyways .. Allen Stone is real and passionated for music and a very nice human being.. we had the chance to talk to him a bit afterwards .. very impressive conversation... then the guys where on their way to London.. to play Hide Park Concert the next day.. Alongside Mister Stevie Wonder !! Guess Allen had been stoked for that Day in London .... ;-) Guys.. if you have the chance to see him live in concert.. go for it !! I` ve visited hundreds of concert in my life (i`m 45 years old) and this was one of the best at all... very special .. you will never forget it.. and am a musician too since i am 10 .. so i guess i`ve got a good nose for musical quality .. I wish him much success in the future in what he is doing.. because its fun to see and hear him making music ... Cheers .. Canoma
Have you ever heard a soulful vibrato like this?? Just after the Organ solo when Allen goes into extacy mode! He is living proof that you cannot teach to sing like this. This is truly God given talent. And so is the bass player. He is a real bass player and not a hiding lead guitarist like so many want to be...love you brother. (Not saying that his bass solo is crap but it showed he is not a soloist.
I saw Allen at Bonnaroo in 2013 for the first time and 2013 was the 3rd of 5 Roo's I have attended and seen countless incredible performances. Allen Stone's show was easily one of the 3 best shows I have seen at any of those entire festivals. Being at that show was special. It's hard to describe but the energy under the tent was UNREAL. Keep in Mr. Stone
Fresh to the rock scene is this astounding performer. Allen Stone attacks each tune with an animal ferocity unequaled in music. This soul hippie will mesmerize you with his pitch-perfect voice.
went to highschool with organ/keyboard player greg, so cool to see him up there! Crazy how many people I went to highschool with at eastlake high in sammamish who are now successful artists and musicians.
I love Allen...really bringing the Funk and Soul back. However i would love to see a little brass section in that band, would complete the sound for me.
LUV !!!! this artist. In a "your favorite aunt/ wanna bake you a cake- Love " Even timed a work flight to Toronto a couple of years back to coincide with his gig at the Opera House. I keep this whole set on my list to listen to as I work.. ahhhhhh..
Entertaining. Very nice. I look forward to seeing him grow some more into an authenticity of feeling. The ears like it. The heart n mind are tagging along.
I've been following Allen from the beginning & this is my take on him. Raw talent, unique style, masters his Vocal style which is very original, band is great, but most of all he sends a message with every song & I love his plain Jane look nothing flamboyant just the great northwest homeboy look!! I am & will always be a fan
maybe not; but it seems like this is just used an expression; as a term of endearment., a term of funk, a colloquial term play that funky music white boy! play that funky music right! and HE DOES xoxoxo that Allen Stone
If you went to go see Gavin Degraw, you'd get the same music, same voice, same chord progressions, just a better show and someone who isn't copying other people to make money.
***** Do you play guitar or even have ears at all? I just randomly picked three of his songs to compare to Gavin, they were all the same chord progressions. Slight differences in attack time, but all in all they were the same. And his voice sounds just like that guy. I don't even really like Gavin Degraw, because he does the same shit as this guy. All I'm saying is if I can learn a guys song within one time of hearing it, it's not original. And if you want to argue that no music is original anymore, I can give you a great big list of people not conforming to make a dollar and making actually money, and succeeding.
sethmeistergee explain the differences. ***** Start with Tera Melos, Sufjan Stevens, and White Denim. It's not just chord progressions, it's everything. 85% of his songs are about girls (or guys, whatever he may enjoy), they all revolve around chords beginner guitarists learn, and he has a voice that has come out of FAR too many musicians to be considered original, just like all the hipster chicks who try to sound like coco rosie or lorde, or the alt rock dudes who are just copying eddie vedder.
sethmeistergee for the record, I wish this guy the best at his business venture, but that doesn't mean I'm hating illogically, I just don't see this as art. I see it as a brand, which is what art is supposed to be the opposite of.
yeah!! Allen Stone!!! i can't wait to hear your CONTACT HIGH!!! "Whatever keeps you occupied, whatever gives you Contact High, whatever keeps you busy baby...will never make you satisfied"
Brasileiro adora falar que não existe mais música boa! Mas são aquele tipo de pessoa que só escuta o que a mídia oferece. Se o Allen fosse brasileiro, iria passar fome. Pois teria um público pequeno.
Al I know you don't seek fane and fortune but you 100% could, should, and will be as big as Ed Sheeran. Eds a special talent but you can blow the roof off with that voice.
The audience has no respect for this amazing man, he basically wrote some of these songs by hand and they don't even clap for his beautiful work and singing.

from what I can see of the crowd they look bored. they aren't clapping, moving or anything! If I was there, I'd be bumpin' and groovin' all over the place! let loose people and dance your cares away!!
It's funny you say that because I saw him at Bonnaroo in 2013 and the crowd was super into it and it was one of the most incredible shows I have ever been at. Then later that summer I saw him again when he was opening for O.A.R. and the crowd was not engaged at all(besides me and a few others dancing our socks off haha). The redeeming moment though was at the end of the show when all the musicians came back out to perform "Live and Let Die" and Allen's voice completely blew everyone else out of the water.
Hmmm, not sure about this performance. The band seem like they're trying to be something they're not. I saw them in London in 2013 and it was miles better than this. Not sure this is the right environment for Stone!
Taylor Warner How did you play with Wooten? And where? I agree ... Amazing guy. I saw him live in Seattle a couple years ago and can't wait to see him again.
