On remarque tout de suite qu'il est dans l'écriture de cette pièce... elle lui va comme une trompette !!!! Il repousse vraiment les limites de l'instrument et avec l'ensemble de cuivres derrière quelle belle couleur elle a cette pièce ! C'est beau.
It is due to wrong microphone setting. So you are correct in saying that the sound is not ok. 2 reasons - 1. to near setting of microphone 2. it should be a large diaphragm ribbon in order to get the sound ok.
I think that's just how Vizzutti sounds. He plays on a relatively shallow mouthpiece and has always had a brighter sound that most classical or orchestral players.
I've yet to hear a recording that does justice to the color and depth of Vizzutti's sound-- it's bizarre, but it's a Much, Much rounder and deeper sound in person (and 5x better than any recording of him, in my opinion). Killer playing though!!
Vizzutti has fabulous technique and range. For this performance, he should have chosen a slightly deeper mouthpiece and a different horn. His tone is too bright, thin, harsh edge.
