This is some footage of Allen Vizzutti instructing me following my performance of Oliver's Birthday by Bruce Broughton. If I'm honest, my playing in this video is borderline embarrassing, but I am uploading this anyways as a memoir and to give those of you who have asked a taste of Vizzutti's teaching. Enjoy!

Hey...that's definitely not an easy thing to experience, having your playing critiqued in front of people - but I already learned a ton just watching this! I think you did great, and you worked with Allen Vizzutti - Just WOW! Thanks for posting.

Vizzutti was one of the heavyweights when I was in high school 40 years ago. Having the humility to learn from him and share the experience is how you'll become a great trumpeter.

Funnily enough, Vizzutti actually uses a fairly shallow mouthpiece with a diameter similar to a 3C, so not a very large piece overall! Some absolutely incredible players don't need a big mouthpiece for a big sound.

This is me when I have to play literally anything for my private instructor. Don't be hard on yourself about the playing. I wouldn't be able to produce a note in front of him and that crowd.

Sorry if this is crazy off topic but if you brush your hair while its still wet it wont frizz as much! Last time I did a musical theatre masterclass they critiqued my acne XD
