Alliance Entertainment Corporation (also known simply as Alliance) was a Canadian film distribution and television production company, founded in 1984 from a merger of RSL Entertainment Corporation and International Cinema Corporation, though the 2 companies operated separately until 1986. In 1990, it bought Montreal-based distributor Vivafilm Lteé, making it its French-Canadian division as "Alliance Vivafilm", and merged its film releasing division Alliance Releasing with the television division. In 1998, the company entered a joint venture with Atlantis Communications, forming Alliance Atlantis.
Alliance Releasing was the motion picture division of Alliance Entertainment Corporation. The division was absorbed in 1991 due to Alliance entering motion picture production.

Alliance Atlantis was founded in 1998 as a merger of Alliance Entertainment Corporation and Atlantis Communications, which were founded in 1984 and 1978, respectively. The company operated both an English and French-Canadian division, the latter under the name "Alliance Atlantis Vivafilm" (formerly "Vivafilm Ltée").
Alliance Atlantis was acquired by Canwest and the private equity arm of Goldman Sachs in 2007. The company's specialty television services were sold to Canwest in 2008 (absorbed into Shaw Media in 2010, then Corus Entertainment in 2016), while its international operations were transferred to Echo Bridge Entertainment. The movie business was relaunched independently as Alliance Films, which was eventually acquired by Entertainment One six years later. However, the Alliance brand name survived in the form of Alliance Cinemas until 2021, when it was rebranded into Cineplex.
AAC Kids was the children's production division of Alliance Atlantis Communications, founded in 1999. The division was dissolved in 2003, along with Alliance Atlantis' nonfiction production division AAC Fact.
AAC Fact was the nonfiction/documentary production division of Alliance Atlantis Communications, founded in 2000. The division was dissolved in 2003, along with Alliance Atlantis' children's production division AAC Kids.
After the collapse of Alliance Atlantis in 2007, the movie distribution arm was re-launched as Alliance Films. On January 9, 2013, competing studio Entertainment One (now owned by Lionsgate) acquired and folded Alliance Films.
