Before Little River Band, Graeham Goble, Beeb Birtles & Derek Pellici were in folk rock group Mississippi, and before that the original trio of Goble, Russ Johnson & John Mower had been in Adelaide band Allison Gros, releasing 3 singles (plus 2 more masquerading as chipmunk-type group Drummond..of "Daddy Cool" fame). The one thing all had in common was their impeccable harmonies & the songwriting genius of Goble. Graeham wrote the excellent "If I Ask You" as Allison Gros' 2nd single, and first for Fable Records in December 1971. Reaching #15 in Adelaide, it deserved more widespread success..but that wouldn't be too far away with the breakthrough occurring the next year after the name change
