This left a big smile on my face. Great to see Allison back at the podium after 10 years, even if it was a gag for a good cause! Loved the way she was able to flip back into character for the improv question as CJ. There's a reason she won four consecutive Emmys for the role.

I have been binge-watching West Wing on Netflix recently and just found this youtube clip. What fun! She is a delightful actress. And yes, I miss this show, a lot. I will also have to look up her current show, Mom. Her message also touches my heart.

So many good hearted people are throwing in for this cause. However, the CDC has distorted and manipulated the statistics. The addiction and overdose problem is being looked at in the wrong way, and by doing so chronic pain patients are being punished while addicts continue to illicitly obtain heroin and fentanyl.

The woman? Alison Janney, who, from 1999-2006, portrayed press secretary C. J. Cregg on the NBC prime time drama “The West Wing,” which was a show that somewhat factionalized what happens at the West Wing of the White House.

@@robertandhollyscorpiofan2697 may have been fictionalized but had *some* basis in fact, as one of the co-writers and producers of the show was Lawrence O'Donnell, who now works at MSNBC, but prior to that worked as an aide to Senator Patrick Moynihan, and also served as staff director of the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, chaired by Moynihan. Former WH staff members have said while not accurate to a tee, the show captures the 'essence' of working in the White House.

@@BigTulsa yippee. I wasnt a big fan of “The West Wing” when it was originally broadcast, which is why I used “somewhat fictionalized.” Although, I do happen to know that the *real* press room was built over a (sadly) no longer used indoor swimming pool.

i sympathize with those addicted to opiates but let's not make them into victims by calling their addiction a disorder, it's not a disorder of any kind, they willfully choose to use the drug

Donald Dickey i know several people who are addicted and i know that i can't live their lives for them, i know that they are not victims of a disorder, victims of their own foolishness, weakness, lack of value for their own lives, yes, but their addiction is definitely not a disorder that other people can cure

You're very ignorant and very wrong. My brother is addicted to pain meds, pain meds were the first drug he EVER had in life, he didn't smoke, drink or even have caffeine but one day his sickle-cell flared up on him and caused him unspeakable pain and the only way he isn't bed written 24/7 and near crippled is with his pain meds (PRESCRIBED BY A DOCTOR, PERFECTLY LEGAL), he's addicted b/c he HAS to take them to live a normal life, and he's not like some drug addict you see on Law & Order, you'd never know by seeing him. So please think before you speak, most pain meds addicts didn't ask for them, it was they only way to make their pain tolerable, you have no clue what these helpless people go through. You do not know at all of what you speak…ignorance

You're the archetypical person who doesn't understand anything until YOU are hit HARD with it. Most (95%) don't DECIDE to be addicts, they get sick and get given pain meds by a Doc., pain medicine is extremely strong and it has to be to kill chronic pain. A "normal life" is just like yours but for an addict they just needs their meds at points of the day, they don't choose addiction

Joyce Durand My mom and I just met Allison the other night while watching the live studio recording of “Mom”. Allison Janney was the ONLY actress of that whole entire show to come and say hi to the audience, shook our hands, spoke to us and thanked us for coming out and taking the time to watch them act. It was sad that all the other actresses just huddled up in a corner and left didn’t even come by and say hi to the live studio audience NOT ONCE in those 3 hours. Allison (the Oscar winner) is truly a class act and she spoke to my mom and I as if we were her friends so awesome.

I have a hard time seeng Allyson as anything but CJ. I have only seen bits and pieces of MOM and know she has receive allcoades. I hope she continues to do a super job on it.
