Thanks, I haven't heard that song in probably 40 years. I seem to recall John Prine singing it long ago, I live in a town that is very Catholic, it was not the favorite song of this town. It might be done better but I don't know how, I believe they knocked it out of the park. The vocals were great and guitars were ringing loud and clear, loved it.

I saw The Other Favorites, and Reina del Cid together in San Francisco just before covid and again a few months ago after they could tour again. I will say that every single one of those artists used the time to hone and improve their craft. Carson is playing lots more lead lines and had written some very clever songs. Reina's guitar playing is like night and day. Josh and Toni who were at a higher level of guitar skill, each advanced both their lead playing, singing and arranging. So I don't think it is so much age that has improved Josh's harmony but just the fruits of had work and focus. If you look at what Molly Tuttle and AJ Lee have begun to put out with the same downtime we are in for a musical treat for at least the next 24 months.

This was a fantastic rendition. The film "Cool Hand Luke" is a classic for sure, with Paul Newman and George Kennedy. I seem to remember a portion of the lyrics Paul Newman sang in character differing somewhat, like there is a "I can go 90 miles an hour just as long as I've got the Almighty power sittin' on the dashboard of my car. . . " Maybe I'm misremembering too; time to revisit this classic film I guess.

I used to play my guitar and sing this on the edge of the Boston Bunker #2 in Phan Thiet, RVN, in 1968.... they do this much better than I ever did.... haven't heard it in a while....Thanks, Guys...

The first time I ever heard this song, I was on a family holiday (vacation) in Stalis Crete. We tried a number of pubs/bars to find one we liked the most - it ended up being an Irish bar called "Sláinte Irish Bar". One night, the entertainment was 2 Irish lads singing and playing acoustic guitars. They were brilliant. Great musicians and seriously funny guys. The version of the song they sang had some... other... verses that you didn't use..! 😅 It's great to be reminded of that Holiday and the good times we had. Thanks for covering this and for that reminder.

This is a fascinating song. I don't think any two versions of it are the same. And that's where it gets its power. It is open to customisation by whoever sings it. Just ask yourself this question: why does a song called 'Plastic Jesus' talk about the Virgin Mary?

This song is very special to me. When my uncle passed, (who i loved dearly) I played this at his funeral, ala Paul Newman, with a banjo and everything. I passed out lyrics prior to the start and everyone joined in... My uncle wasn't religious, but in his own way, had god in his life. Plastic Jesus sums it up quite nicely. Lovely version Josh... as always.
