I had a great inspirational quote the other day that seems very fitting for this situation “Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path.” I hope your path is clear and you are enjoying some epic miles and smiles. Oh man!! I am hearing so many of stories of PCTers getting their gear stolen on the way there this year! Glad to see you guys getting back on trail and I hope you guys got lots of rest and are feeling 100% again! Good to see you and James back on trail. I hope you both stay healthy and have a happy trek from here on out (I say this sitting my last day in self-isolation with COVID and all the good hiking weather this Memorial Day weekend).

It always seems like something always goes wrong when I go hiking or camping. When you push through it and stay calm it seems like the trip is better than it is when you planned it.

Mark Twain said Life is just one damn thing after another! Remember He will find a way when there aint no way.

In early 2021, my shipments to Ebay buyers slowed way down. They all eventually reached their destinations with the longest one being a month from Georgia to Delaware. I shipped all of that through USPS. 2021 was when I learned the whole experience of trying to get the insurance. That took several hours. The thing showed up right after I completed the claim.

Great to see ya'll back and looking forward to the hike...I've learned the hard way with USPS (no more) - FedEx/UPS only, it's worth it.

I'm sure that you are back on trail as I am watching this. First off you have each other and most of the gear that you needed. It's a new day and put the yesterday's behind you, as there is nothing you can do about them. In a week you will have memories that will make the crap disappear. It will be an epic hike, you just didn't need the epic start. Happy trails from here on.

Dam Kelly it's been a nightmare for you trying to hike this trail but the positive side is you are good and healthy now you know got all your stuff back and everything is going to be alright

I thought I lost my USPS package, but 30 days after I sent it, it was returned. They hold the package that's label general delivery for 30 days and then send it back to the return address.

Wow, sorry for the the travails you are having to face! Maybe thinking back to your Day 136 on the AT (Franconia Ridge), or Day 142 (Mt. Washington) can help some ... those are some of the most magnificent and touching videos I have seen from anyone hiking, anywhere ... Best to you both!

Glad to hear you are physically feeling better. Your determination seems strong, so while you may be mentally frustrated, your attitude of dealing with what is in front of you will serve you well back on the trail. Once you are back out there, your perspective will shift. Psalm 46:10. Hike on!

Usps is simply the worst. Even with a Priority tracking number... locating a lost package is impossible. Even if it had been insured you can't file a claim for 30 days and then you will NEVER get reimbursed. Good things can be a struggle. Be thankful for the opportunity that you have to even hike one mile! I'm stuck having to work for at least another two years :(

Way to persevere 👏. After losing ~$1k of gear in 2014, I’m more careful about following my tracking. Shipped USPS Priority so I had tracking. Was never scanned at origin PO 🤦‍♂️. Figured it was an “inside” theft. Filed all forms; box was never found. Was never paid on the Priority insurance. Always be sure package gets scanned !!!

Sorry about your pkg. for future shipments I’d encourage UPS. They track and insure everything and have time defined delivery times and the costs should be comparable

I had to laugh when you said you filed a missing package report with the post office. Like they're going to spend one second looking for it. I've had lots of experience with them they will never admit when they're wrong. You have to insure everything if it doesn't have a tracking number or you can buy a tracking number. It's well worth it. I refuse to ship anything with the post office now that doesn't have a tracking number.
