Beautiful. Just beautiful. Not only do die hard Allman Brother Fans like myself accept this 110%, we love it, we see it as more than a tribute, we see it as the next generation. And we're happy as sh*t to have these talented musicians carry the torch. Well deserved accolades and total acknowledgment that Devon and Duane and the rest of the band have their own identities and styles and we just love the sh*t out of it!!! Gives me chills every time I hear these beautiful leads and harmonies... God Bless You All....
Haven't heard of version of Blue Sky this awesome since 1971 Johnny and Dwayne you guys really nailed it. Put your own spin on it. You're really captured the power and the beauty of the song that's been missing for a long time.
These guys are keeping the legacy alive and they have the pedigree to pull it off. Yes, they need more polish - but they will continue to grow and improve. This line up includes an Allman, Betts and Oakely - and I wish them the best.
Harrisburg PA Farm Show, 1980, Dickey opened with Jessica, I was 10 feet up front center of stage, ... brim of his hat covering his eyes, and fresh lit cigarette. Unforgettable.
Brings back many fond memories of their parents in the glory days...........I was lucky enough to see the original band and the last show at the Beacon.........This keeps me in touch..........
I'm 39 yrs old and to this date, I regret not seeing Allman Brothers Band live. I've been to hundreds of shows and that's the one I wish I would've witnessed.
The ABB played in Holland (Summer of '74) a couple of miles from where I was (Amsterdamned). Still regret I didn't know that 'till I was back home. I still feel so stupid about it. I was 15 then, now 60!
Their dads meant so much to me ❤️❤️❤️gathered Johnny Stachela, R SCOTT JOHN AND JOHN to form my favorite band. Never missed an Allman Brothers concert in Massachusetts & sure tried to make every one of their boys Miss them 😢
Great job by the lead player covering Duane's original solo. He got all the important licks in there :) First time I've heard anyone come that close. Duane Betts needs a little time to find his confidence singing. Overall the parts are all there though. It's not the brothers but it's damn close to sounding like the original band (Jaimoe is hard to replace as he plays like no one I have ever heard) The thing that is really stoking me is Berry being in this band. He is playing the Frankenstein and he is carrying the rhythm and melody just like his father did. They should really call it "Allman/Betts/Oakley band" as Berry Jr. is just as much a reason to see this as anyone else. For me even more.
no shit, johnny stachela on lead ,Duane's licks almost to a t,phrasing and feel, amazing.check out berry jr. in bloodline.top notch. this band is tight as hell
Got to see them in Macon, Ga. , then Butch's kids popped in (were playing at Grant's Lounge), and then Barry Oakley Jr showed up (think he is still with them) and Lamar Williams Jr... It's good to be in Macon sometimes...still. Thank God the music came back!
they are definitely a must-see for anyone who's into southern rock...am a big fan & waiting impatiently for them to come back to my area...still want to hear them do Win Lose or Draw, though (hint hint)
Going to see them April 2 in Annapolis. Can’t wait. Saw Devon there few years back and he was awesome. Saw Devon Allman Project w/ Duane at the Peach Music Festival. Check out Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam XX video and audio. Killer Blue Sky on both and Midnight Rider on audio only. The encore was all the guitarists jamming to Charlie on One Way Out.
@@thomasfoss9963 Dickey's playing a prototype custom shop of the betts sig model. the original goldtop after the R&R HOF exibitoin the paint pealed off and Dickey refinished it red.
@@thomasfoss9963 No Duanes goldtop was traded off for the burst he used later. Believe that resides at the 'big house' in macon. There are some youtubes of him playing it. I believe Dickey has Duane's SG though, but I couldnt' say for sure. Not that I'm any family friend or anything...LOL just repeating from memory articles I've read. There's some footage of JD Simo playing Duane's goldtop around here somewhere.
Johnny Stachela played the first solo and Duane Betts played the second...Devon Allman plays some good lead as well, but Duane and Johnny have a bit more finesse...Duane plays a lot like his dad Dickey and Johnny plays a lot like Duane Allman...great band!
@@robertstroud7561 I notice you make a lot of really stupid comments concerning the Allman Brothers Family! Were you born a Jackbag or did you just learn to be one as you meandered through life?
@@samrobertson5185 Well then this Band should be right in your wheelhouse ! They way you were judging these dudes i thought you were some kind of bigshot!! LOL
@@samrobertson5185 Awesome brother! I hope you enjoy yourself. Did you ever listen on RU-vid to Duane Betts earlier band Backbone 69. Man, it's good stuff. There is a song called "Wheels Turnin" that i bet you would really dig since you sound like a real music fan. The whole album is solid man. I can't quit listening to it. Take it easy man!
Saw Duane and Stachela with Govt Mule rhythm section playing in a tiny bar in Santa Monica - was pretty impressed with Stachela - great melodic phrasing...
Music sounds close to the original but Devon doesn't sound anything like his dad singing. He shouldn't be singing. The same with Duane Betts. Dickey never was a real singer. These boys need a professional singer near Gregg's voice. Then write their own ABB--like songs of their own. Right now they are just another tribute band living off their fathers names instead of themselves!
@@Robin-zb8qy You don't know who I am do you Robin. I can do so-o much better. Check out Eddie Garrett---"Not My Cross To Bear 2" on You Tube and see for yourself!
I hear what you are saying, but they have recorded an album and it is coming out later this year. I think they play a lot of their own stuff at the shows but understandably people are posting the ABB covers.
They aren't the Allman brothers dude. Devon Allman sings well just nothing like his dad. His brother Elijah blue Allman sounds the closest even though his music is no where related to ABB. these boys are paying homage to their heritage but they have a full length Album coming out of their own material. If you came here expecting a carbon copy of ABB, go listen to their records. Also I saw your comment about you doing a better job and checked out your video. It's good but you are no where near Greg's vocal range you have the growl he had but you carry it through the whole song. When you can go from the low tenor of Gregg Allman into that growl let me know...
I'd get Michael Allman to pitch in on vocals. Not sure what kind of shape he's in physically but he's got that voice that's closer to his father's voice which would blend well with Dicky's son. Kind of a lackluster sound here if you ask me and I'm the biggest Allman Brother's Band fan on the planet. Better yet bring in Gregg's daughter Layla. I know it'll change the sound of the original Allman Brothers Band sound but man, she's the most talented of them all!!! Any why would you need to sound exactly like the original AB line up anyway? For me as is, this line up puts me to sleep. In this video anyway. Practice up boys. Get rid of all the mistakes and knock the roof off the building!!!!!!
It could have been the lady in front of the person recording that you heard. She ruined it :) I couldn't hear Devon at all. I just heard her crappy out of tune voice!
Yes Noel I totally agree about Dickey--pitiful-. These "sons" sound great musically, but surely need some real singers to round out the band. Devon doesn't sound anything like Gregg's voice. And Dickey really never was a real singer. Devon & Duane here are vocally way off pitch. Get some real singers boyz!
@@thomasfoss9963 I've driven 3 times, 6, 10, and 10 hours to see Dickey and he was a no show all three times. Dickey is a bad boozer and getting older doesn't help. These guys are my Bible have been for 42 years. Still, Dickey can be a real asshole
Eddie Garrett I couldn’t agree more about needing a singer. Musically they are tight but their singing is way off. Michael Altman’s voice is so soulful and would be the one to round it out and send it somewhere.
