That this was the hardest solo I have ever covered because, IMO, it’s not so much as covering the solo but the style in which it’s played. Wes Hauch for me is in the top 5 guitar players of all time and his style is so relentless, precise and uptempo that it really destroys your will to live once you start covering it. My main issue with this solo was getting it up to speed - the 150BPM tempo of the track and the consistent picking you need to sustain from the start of the solo is insane. 150BPM does not sound too bad - when you’re playing 3 notes per string or arpeggios but when you’re all over the place like Wes it’s a nightmare. This whole song is bonkers in terms of lead playing and I would advise anyone to try to nail down the intro lead section of this song because it is wild as the main solo.
I messed up a bit on a couple of parts a bit but I think that this is the best it’s going to get.
My crazy idea was to do a one take of the whole song but then I remembered that I am human and not some crazy god machine like Wes.
