Terry Flowers all because they possibly know each other doesn’t have anything to do with their sportsmanship you can be on the same team as someone and they can be jealous of you and not congratulate you...
She's the finest sprinter in the history of the sport. Not quite fast enough to dominate the 100m but fast enough to qualify for Olympic finals and superb on the 4x100m relay. The best 200m runner of her era and would have been the best 400m runner had she focused on it earlier. No sprinter has ever been so competitive across all three of the sprints.
and with 20 medals she sets the bar at the top of Everst for the rest 3 200m in a row but in the silly OLlys Cambell won/ only 9 wor;d records have been set in tradk and fieild in compare
I'm american, and I feel the same about this; they both swapped placed with one another between WC's and Olympics. It also made me very sad when VCB fell off...she fell off in the middle of nowhere quickly...such a huge force for Jamaica! I'm disappointed Jeter had a bad start and lane; she misjudged and saved way too much energy for too late.
So proud to say she graduated from my school, LAB, now called Heritage Christian. I'm a Freshman there, and a week ago she visited our school and got my Spikes signed by her. Such a humble and truly hard-working athlete. We all look up to her.
I've said this for 30 years. Track women are stunning. Black, white, latino, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500. Doesn't matter what race or what event. They are stunning.
This was a very spontaneous 200 that year. Literally never seen some of these athletes run this event but they all made it to finals. How amazing. Richards-Ross, Jeter, and Frazier-Price are all amazing well-rounded athletes!!
They have all run 200s in the past, but focused primarily on their main events throughout their pro careers. Usually, if your specialty is the 100, you practice by running 200s n so on. That's why Felix is good at both 200 and 400.
40INTENSITY It is amazing how she can make it look effortless. I would say she may be the most talented sprinter ever, given her ability at 100, 200 and 400 meters. I believe she could have beaten Richards-Ross for the 400 title, but chose to focus on the 200, since the gold had eluded her twice in that event!
+Discerning TV I agree, she's the embodiment of what the worlds most perfect female runner should be.I also agree that she makes it look effortless and her sprint is 2nd 2 none. Her and Serena are my favorite female athletes ever. I think she learned alot from that gold eluding her, she's mastered her craft and knows how to control her speed and still be better than everyone else. She has no flaws as far as i'm concerned. She's beautiful, humble and has earned every bit of her fan base.
The doc Jones She actually might be the best ever. I was watching something on TV, and they were saying, she's the most decorated female ever, at 200 meters. I would think this is true, when you take into account all world class competitions ( ie Olympics, World Championships, Diamond League etc. ) She has so many victories....and like you, I'm a big fan. (:
But that 3rd leg run in the 4x400m final in beijing absolutely amazing. It is probably the fastest time for any leg in this race. There is rumor going around that she is gonna try to do the double (i.e. 200m and 400m) in Rio 2016. I think she should just focus on the 400m. To do that double is gonna be difficult having to go through all the rounds in both event and have enough to get gold in both races. What do you think?
+Phillip Williams I read that 3rd leg run, was actually the fastest split ever, by an American woman. And the 3rd fastest of all time. Incidentally, the 2 faster splits were by 2 european women in the 1980's. For both whom, there are strong allegations of steroid use. One of them is Marita Koch of East Germany who has the current 400 meter world record of 47.60.( circa 1985 ) The wikipedia says Allyson Felix is the only female athlete in the world, who even has a chance, of getting near that time. Anyway, you're right, doing the 200, 400 meter double next year in Rio, is definitely a tall order. Especially since the 200 meter Gold and Silver winners, in the Beijing WC, both beat Allyson Felix's personal best of 21.69. They finished at 21.63 and 21.66 ( it seems like they came out of nowhere, and now, are in the top 5 fastest times ever....go figure ) Personally, I think Allyson is the best in the world at both distances, and with her work ethic and determination, I wouldn't rule her out of taking Gold at both. ( I guess it depends on, just how close together, the 2 events are to each other ) And to throw more drama into the mix, will she also be running the 4x100 & 4x400 ? ( 2 more events she kicks butt at ) lol It all seems overwhelming, but if anyone can do it at top form, it's Allyson. The Strength, Talent and Determination in this girl, is just unbelievable. She's definitely an athlete for the ages.
I always say. Olympic is for Campbell, and world championship is for Felix. So when Campbell took the world title from Felix, i said to myself, "Felix is sure going out there to take the Olympic title from Campbell" Good race. Happy Shelly took the Silver for us Jamaican. Good Race. Congrats Felix
Allyson Felix is the best OVERALL sprinter in the world. She's so versatile. she literally has a medal in every sprint event. No one else can say the same.
She doesnt have one in the 100m. She is a great overall sprinter but there are a lot of other ladies that have more raw turn over than she does. She is more of an endurance runner great at 200/400 and she is quick so you can put her on the 4x100 but she doesnt not have a medal in the 100m
She has one in the 4x100 relay. Like I said before, she's the best overall. She's the most versatile! The numbers, results and productivity clearly backs it up. You don't smash the world record in the relays with good runners; you need great runners. You must have forgot that she got fourth in the open 100m dash at the London Games? That means she's the fourth fastest woman on the entire planet! No need to even discuss the 200; she's gold medalist. Now let's talk about the 400.....if she was to just focus on it, she'd easily challenge Sonya for that crown. No other athlete, men or women is doing what she does at the highest level on a consistent basis against the best in the world. I've seen her run many a times, and she always does what she did in London. Go to Penn Relays and watch her do the same thing against pretty much the same hardcore opponents- especially the Jamaican team. #100mRelay #200mDash/200mRelay #400mRelay......oh and by the way, she pretty much always run faster splits than Sonya.
Jamell Jenkins She was 5th and thats not an everyday thing for her. That was the 100 of her life. that was 10.89 and it took a lot for her to get there. That was the first and only time she ever made the 100m team and one of the few sub 11 100m's she ever ran. Im not bashing her. I'm just saying that she doesnt have a medal in the 100. And when it comes to relays you only need 2 or three great runners. You can have free rider because Bianca Knight isn't all that. Other than the 2 4x100 from 2011 and 2012 she has no medals
Jamell Jenkins Your placing in a championship final doesn't dictate your ranking on the entire planet. The All-time list of times ever run on the IAAF website does and she is not even in the top 10. The 200 doesn't dictate the fastest man or woman only the 100 does. Allyson is great at the 200 and it does make her one of the fastest in the world, but no where is she near the top 5. That's a serious joke. Penn doesnt mean anything. Thats at the very beginning of the season and a lot of athletes are just getting their legs going and thats a relay. Relays are easy to win when your on team USA or Jamaica because everyone is good. You look too much into relays. Its about individual performance. Thats what people will remember years down the road. If you notice, no Great Track and field legend was ever remembered for a relay.
Johny John there's nothing you can say to back up your "facts". I never said she was the fastest; I said she's the best OVERALL sprinter due to her versatility. And yes, you can judge someone based on relays because at the end of the day, you still have to run. And while you are at it, tell me another woman that does what she does on a constant basis......don't worry, I'm still waiting.'......
"I have learned that track doesn't define me. My faith defines me. I'm running because I have been blessed with a gift." A.Felix, born - again Christian lady.
So what about the other women and their Faith in the same God? I'm pretty sure some are Christians too. So does he pick and chooses who he wants to win or is it he has nothing to do with it and you train to put yourself in the position to win? I mean, all of them are blessed with a gift if you can even make the Olympic team. So how does the selection of winning process works if 9 out of the 9 women pray to the same God to win??
drew63215 you sound like you are offended, all she is saying is God defines her and nothing else and that God gave her the ability to do what she does not that he didn’t give the ability to others, she gives all credit to God because He is the one to give the gift, in other words she is humble.
@@terryburney545 Not offended at all. I'm just trying to figure out this God's selection process. How do you know the other women are more humble than her? So now what's the explanation for her winning because that rules out any Mythical advantage. I wonder why no one thanks God when they lose? When they lose they make up excuses why they lose (bad start, hamstring, I was too tight, the other person ran a great race...etc). Where was God then??
That look on her face, finally getting the gold after two successive silvers. ❤️❤️❤️ You really have to marvel at her versatility. She was part of the relay team that broke the world record in the 4x100, she wins the 200 individually, and she is part of the relay team that won the 4x400. Her whole career is littered with titles at all three sprint distances and she has some of the fastest times ever recorded in the 200 and 400. It’s absolutely remarkable.
Blake X I still don't understand your point. You made a snide comment about Schippers having faster time than Felix - are you implying she is the superior runner?
It's 2020 and still enjoy watching the silky smooth running style of Allyson Felix. Her legs gliding ever so elegantly across the track effortlessly has me so mezmerized. Its breathtaking to watch her run. Captivating 😍🙊
Watching Allyson Felix run is like seeing a Picasso, hearing Mozart, watching John Elway or Julius Erving in their prime ; she is so beautiful --runs with power & grace , I can't help falling in love with her! Allyson, you are in the class of Flo Jo --& we all know how incredible SHE was ! As an American, you make me proud; as a man, I simply cannot take my eyes off of you. Wolfsky9, 68 y/o
You are right. Magnificient runner and beautiful person. We see her in Britain and have nothing but admiration. She is modest, intelligent, classy and gorgeous. Long may we see her grace athletics.
I was glad Allyson did so well at these olympics. After all the controversy about the run off in the trials and people saying she should just give up her spot.I wanted so bad for her to shine here and SHINE she did.I felt bad for her teammate when all the runoff mess was going on but in the end Allyson could hold her head HIGH after it was over.
In the Pantheon of great sprinters Allison Felix is in a class all by herself. What grace in winning, talent in multiple events, dignity in defeat and sportsmanship. She is the greatest female runner of all time. When you consider she’s run the 100, the 200, the 400 and the relays 4 x 100 and the 4 x 400! Allison the GOAT!!! Brava
I could sit down and then jump up cheering these ladies for days on end. You watch Allyson (My all time fav) and you have to wonder where does she get it. She just glides! It's amazing.
Carmelita Jeter has the second fastest time ever ran in the 100m for Women which is 10.64 secs. The world record holder Flojo of 10.49 is deceased, so Carmelita is the fastest Woman Alive.
All of them running gorgeously. I noticed that Alysson's steps actually get bigger; higher and longer as the race progresses. Those last 15 m you see Fraser-Pryce trying to catch her, but Felix ups it, and starts almost leaping.
