This music needs to never be forgotten. It's beautiful and makes me proud to be Puerto Rican! We have such an amazing culture, and we should share it for the entire world to see...
Puerto RIcan culture is very heterogenous. I enjoy all of its cub cultures, but to be honest, this is not the culture of many puerto ricans, like those in the central mountains who are descendants of canarians and whose music is música jíbara. We value all of it but we also value our diversity.
I'm so very Proud of my Afro-Puerto Rican ROOTS! Great video. Thanks for sharing. I was born in PR, raised in the US but my parents made sure we knew our culture. WE weren't allowed to speak English at home and we knew all about Bomba y Plena and much of our Puerto Rican History. WE are beautiful in culture- AFRICAN- TAINO- SPANIARD!!!!
My ethnic background is Maori, i am from New Zealand and i have a Puerto Rican friend who just recently told me a little about your guys history. Beautiful culture. I'm glad you're proud of your roots. I'm proud of mine too.
Break free with every movement Feel it The beat of the drum The rhythm driving your feet Feel the vibrations in your legs The freedom of your sweat Dampening of the weight that it carries Yes chile' break free You see, these tribesmen are ferrying a boat to your freedom Can you see? Across the waters, deep blues and aqua Salt air and sea licking your skin Can you see? Dance chile' Your body feels what your body already knows At the hem of my skirt is lightening I bequeath that power to you Come here Sit here at the hem of my skirt Wield the power of lightening Come here chile Rise Your skirt has been made for you Take your power back Rise chile' Rise Rise and take it back
@@SG483 actually the dancer leads, the main drummer called "primo" is following the dancer's improv. A dancer comes to the front and when she/he salutes the primo, (you can see it in 01:15) it's on and drummer follows dance. It's a game to see if the primo can follow the dancer's movements with the beat.
words can not explain how bomba makes me feel, and alma moyo in my opinion is on the top of a short list of the best. que viva nuestra musica puertorriquena

I thank you guys so much for your profession I highly recognized and I'm going to share however you guys have me in tears my mother's name is Julia from PR Rico
With all the respect the singer now within this song at this moment in love with the dancer I just need to put it out there you guys need to connect and stop fighting it when you beat those drums while she was dancing I song and I felt it in my soul
Me encanto esta. Are there lyrics or musical notes so that I can try to learn the parts? I could try by mimicking but it might be easier having a reference first.
@jimbooie1718 - Glad to get such a positive comment from you. I feel the same way about our music and culture. If you have a moment, please register a like on this video. Thanks!

It means Agua......which means (water) and Nile which is in Africa. So it basically means water from the Nile. No matter what variation of the word is used......that's what it means.
@@40INTENSITY Keyla Matias has the right definition. The similarity to the Spanish word for water is just coincidence. I also like how Hector Lavoe sang Aguanile.
I hate to be the one to say this but Aguatile aguatile chorus and the drums were against each other on the beat. Off beat to each other. Estavan cruzao. It could've sound even better. Everything else I liked. Thank you for the video.
They prefer to show the mixed or mestizo women over the Black women. That is not venerating the female ancestors. It's disrespecting them by suppressing the ones with their same skin color.
