Choose healthy unbroken unroasted almond nut.
Soak healthy almond nuts in normal water for 24-36 hrs, after that wash them thoroughly.
Remove the tip of the soaked almond nut to enhance almond seed germination and reduce germination time.
Use a mixture of 50% moist river sand and 50% Cocopeat for growing almond seeds.
Fill this mixture in a well-drained pot, to maintain porosity, do not press the mixture.
Now bury half a portion of the almond seed into the sand-cocopeat mix.
Cover the pot with any transparent polythene, to keep moisten the growing medium for longer.
Covering the growing medium with transparent polythene provide green house effect for the seed which encourage fast seed germination. Also, protect the seeds from ants and small insects.
It takes about 7-8 days to sprout almonds.
Keep moistened and cover the pot for the next 3-4 weeks. Do not overwater.
When almond plant grow upto 5-6 inches then plant it in soil.
Loamy soil is good for almond plantations with 20% organic compost.
