Very interesting video. I use HOT SHOTS SECRET EDT with every tank of fuel. We also have a '16 Ram 1500 4wd Ecodiesel, and a '18 Ram 2500 4wd 6.7L Cummins. The fuel quality of diesel is awful. I use the WIX fuel filter because it seems to capture more dirt in the fuel. I started using the R-95 & R-99 fuel. The fuel filters were way cleaner after that.

I bought a 4 cylinder car off an old man. It had low mileage but he didn’t do enough oil changes. It had sludge like that all through the engine. I took the pan off and cleaned the pick up like u did. Cleaned the pan out, I took the valve cover off and was digging dried up sludge out of the head with a screw driver and shop vac. Messy job but got it much cleaner. Gave it a few oil changes. It never blew up but overall better. It’s still going strong. Even turbo’d it :)

I know you said you did a flush. Have you tried the BG oil flush kit? It’s not the add it to your oil kind of flush, has several steps. You drain the oil and change the filter, then run the cleaner through it on high idle for quite a while. Drain, change filter. Add the rinse oil, run at high idle. Drain, change filter and then fill with your regular oil. I’ve had a couple old crusty diesel’s that were sludge and carbon filled messes, the top end and pulling the pan they were remarkably clean. It wouldn’t have cleaned that nasty pickup tube but it will clear out your galleys and such. I’ve also used the CRO 505 carbon cleaner in the next change and it pulled even more deposits out. A clean engine is a happy engine. Never owned a Dodge but several Fords that got sludgy, nothing like yours. 😳

I put rod bearings in mine at 150K. Not one lick of sludge in it. Its a 2014 with 180K now. Why didn't you remove the pickup, clean it and replace the o-ring? The pressure gauge inside is only an algorithm, not an actual reading.. If you have any pressure it will show normal, until you have none then it shows 0 PSI ☠ Wanna eliminate the soot and increase drivability for FREE? You don't even have to replace the intake manifold. But if you do replace the intake, leave the EGR valve electrically unplugged or delete it and deal with the MIL. Also take the CCV tube off and run a hose from the engine to the ground NO KINKS OR LOW SPOTS!. Then plug the intake side of the tube. Deal with the MIL from that too. Neither effects regen cycles. If you can't deal with the MIL...delete it. Been a Dodge tech since the 90's. There is NO intake recall. I can't believe the amount of misinformation out there. 😢

Was an oil analysis done in the past? What additives did you use? Something went wrong somewhere with the additives as the soot doesn't normally become solid. The soot is carbon and if it exists as soft sheets we call it graphite and they slide past each other. Of course all those crystals for under heat and pressure, but something else happened for it to chunk up in the pan.

The copper seals start to leak by at the bottom and then combustion gasses make their way up and go under the valve cover because of the design of the gasket at the top of the injector. @lukemalloy2488
@lukemalloy2488 2 месяца назад
That's simply not possible. If the crush washer were failed, the pressure would pop out the injector's dust seal on the v/c to the atmosphere in the engine compartment, not go into the engine. You would know it for sure if compression were leaking. If the v/c were compromised in any way, there would be a HUGE engine oil leak.

Hello! A Californian here, and like most of us here in the state, I need to start with saying great video!….. I fully appreciate the “exhaust weight reduction mod” I believe what you are experiencing is due to the cause of using the wrong oil, this is a build up of soot, there is a reason that the gen 3 eco diesel uses a specific oil ……not rotella….. it needs a LOW SOOT OIL…specifically API SN, MS 12991 rated. This is supposed to reduce the soot produced by what you are seeing here, in addition the cause of this can be reduced by running cleaner fuel or running a fuel additive like hot shot secret EDT, or even oil additives like hot shot or arch oil, this can also be SIGNIFICANTLY reduced by a bypass oil filter… please note I 100% agree with you,I feel the majority of this problem is due to the epa and them not knowing how things actually operate, however, when these items in our diesels get a “weight reduction” you need to realize your engine is running more efficiently so it’s running hotter and different in general, it will require a tune to make it perform without issues, or otherwise operate within the new perimeters created by removing the egr and def, now, idk if you got a tune or not but it seems there are some items that can be addressed here to save your diesel! Feel free to give me a follow on instagram and we can discuss further! Maybe I’m not even close! Lol @Dynamicoverland

I rode in your truck in June 2023 and it is nice. Ironically, I have seen the exact year as your truck blew the engine with less than 25K due to heavy sludge build up in the oil system. More importantly, all of the oil changes were performed at a RAM dealer using OEM specified components and motor oil as the customer purchased a maintenance package.

150 shouldn't be that hard with a few mods. re grind cam, p29 pistons, y8 intake manifold and a good flowing exhaust. stock injectors will be fine, pump could use an upgrade, but stock will work fine all motor for a while.

Btw, it’s not global weirding that has caused the changes to diesel engines it’s the micro particles the it puts out, our in your case plugs the engine. As someone with chronic lung degeneration I know a bit more about it but it’s helping kids, the elderly and people like me to keep breathing and for people like you to not end up like me. Just thought you should know, it’s never as simple as we would like. ✌️

Hey bro, I’d just refrain talking about any and all emission control stuff and just say you left it all intact. Because ofc you did. You’d never mess with emissions stuff! Fed Big brother is watching, and we wouldn’t want them to get the wrong idea, now would we?
