How I Started My Journey For Lachen(Gurudongarlake)?
On 3rd Oct at 11:30, I have started my journey from Gangtok to North Sikkim. In the long time I have been traveling to different places, this is the first time I have traveled by bike from kolkata to Darjeeling and Darjeeling to Sikkim(gangtok)
The day we left for North Sikkim the sky was crystal clear. On the way to Chungtham Dam, the weather was not too bad. This Chungtham is a place from where the road to Lachen and Lachung splits. Gurudommar Lake towards Lachen and Yumtham and Zero Point will be found towards Lachung. Therefore, the importance of this bridge in Chungtham is very high from all sides.
Due to the collapse of this Chungtham Dam and Bridge North Sikkim faced such a big disaster. Along with this, a total of 17 bridges from Chungtham to Gangtok were destroyed and about 12 kilometers of roads were completely wiped out. Around 3400 tourists were stranded in lachen and Lachung. After coming to the army camp every day and waiting for hours. They were the only ones who saved us and the hospitality of locals was fabulous. By listening carefully to everyone, trusting everyone and repeatedly appealing to everyone to maintain morale, I rediscovered the Lachen as well as the locals who truly loved us as a family member
