real break in doesn't occur until approximately 10k - 11k in my experience with new cars over my 50+ yrs of driving. your best mileage is yet to come .
Try going 55-60 mph and you will get even better mpg. I get 40+ mpg in my 19 RAV4 LE AWD all the time in the warmer months even with some city driving. I’ve heard rumors that the next Gen RAV4 coming out for the 2026 model will be hybrid, plug in hybrid, and full electric. The gas model will get discontinued. The hybrid will get better mpg on the road because it doesn’t have a rear drivetrain and has a little better aero, as well as eco tires.
What is the elevation difference between your starting and end points? I recently did a 90 mile roundtrip with my 2023 RAV4 Hybrid XSE. The average cruising speed was very similar to what you did. I averaged 49 mpg; 44 one way gaining elevation, and 54 the other way losing elevation. It seems quite easy to beat the EPA's ratings with Toyotas.
Very nice. Toyota has really got a good car. I have a 20 Hybrid and it does better than 40mpg at times on the highway, and averages that ay 65 mph. The efficiency falls off rapidly to about 37 ay 75-80. However where it shines is the city driving, where it ill go 40 - 44 mpg especially in dense city traffic. I love the hybrid, and cannot see where it is $10 k more than a gas version. At least it wasn't 10k more when I bought mine. At the time it was only about $3k difference.
If the speed limit is 65, there is always a posted minimum speed limit sign board that comes up every now and then which is usually at 45. And no, I’m not saying that doing the minimum speed limit is a good idea!
That is incredible mileage. And I'm glad someone makes these kind of videos because there are a lot of hyper mileage people out there and I am one of them most days 😊
I think xle best value rn because a lot of people want smart key and some of those extra features the le dont get bht honestly i think the le is mainly the best value rn cause these vehicles are getting way more expensive now its not even funny 40 mpg is crazy. Btw you couldve also used eco mode to help boost gas milage if you wanted to
That’s actually way better than I was expecting. I’d rather not buy a hybrid it’s extra complexity and the battery pack eventually needs to be replaced, negating ~10 mpg or so gains over the lifespan of the vehicle. Also the engine on a hybrid wears out from constantly starting and stopping to increase efficiency.
While I was in the same boat a while ago, there’s a guy on facebook who has a 2020 R4H XSE with 460,000 miles on it, still going strong. Seems like the newer toyota hybrids are becoming more and more reliable
Point well taken. It has a simpler powertrain which bodes well for long term ownership. It is as fuel efficient as a hybrid on the highway even though it has AWD. It comes with all the Toyota safety tech. And it's cheaper by thousands of dollars. I'll say it, the 2023 RAV4 LE AWD is the best buy right now.
I'm curious, what kind of mpg are you getting in city only driving? Just wondering since yours is AWD and they do tend to spend a little bit more fuel than the non-AWD models. Any information on this request would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...
@@bebe0928 thank you! your channel is cool. i’m in between getting a le or xle. like the le price but power driver seat, power liftgate and smart key on xle are enticing.
