Used to buy dynamite from the hardware store years ago and it was for beaver dams . It was jazzed up with diesel and nitrogen fertilizer. None of that is legal now unless you have a blasting ticket. Tannerite and equivalents are capable of removing beaver dams too but you have to be safe in that regard. Those people are simply gonna cause the product to be removed or restricted for sale
@JH-vl6eh
@JH-vl6eh 4 месяца назад
Our laws are so smart🙄. Let’s de-legalize a product that can be safely used from behind cover, and allow a product that can only be used by remaining in direct sight…..I don’t think either should be off limits, but for doing work like removing beaver dams, the dynamite is probably the safer option

As a vet who knows about splody things , tannerite is DEADLY. But its also fun and a blast (sorry for the pun) we always maintain 200 yd minimum distance when its a pound or more. For the single shot small ones its at least 100 yds. We’ve blown up toilets, microwaves, tree stumps, old grills. One time even a beaver dam after the beaver was taken by a trapper.

3 pound jars into a beaver dam cleared a volume of dam about 6 feet down and a length of dam that was 8 feet long and about 4 feet wide. I recovered a lot of farmland that was flooded. Beind raised up on a country farm, you learned to be EXTRA careful around machinery and too not be too relaxed around anything that could kill you. A near life time ago, several people where injured or out right killed shooting into old color TV tubes in cabinet counsol units; they were backed by elliptical iron shields, which went struck by a bullet, reflected it back pretty much from where it came from. As a teen, I had heard about this and felt compelled to try it. I took an extra step to the side and let go a shot from a medium power deer rifle and that bullet came directly back to where I had been standing just a moment before! Lesson learned! Always consider your backstop and what kind of iron is in your target!
@danielsacks7152
@danielsacks7152 3 месяца назад
My father told me to NEVER shoot at an old TV. There were a few in my target area (dump). I never did because of the notch in his ear from a .22 that came back at him! Shooting at heavy mild steel plates is dangerous as well. I had a .300 win mag jacket come directly back to me at very high velocity 100 yards away it missed my head by about 6in! This was from a 2" plate angled at about 30 degrees. The bullet goes in, mushrooms, forms a cavity, and the lead rebounding out of it pushes the jacket out of the hole directly at you. I've seen it several times. One guy on youtube firing a .50 BMG at mild steel had the jacket take off his shooting muffs, just missing his head!

True story, not nearly as serious. My son was having a Bday party, bunch of 14-16yo's. They all went outside for a while, came back in, nothing eventful. I'm in the bedroom reading, and suddenly a very loud "bang" of sorts. Wasn't sure if it was a rifle, shotgun or 'sumpin' exploding! Every last one of them swore they didn't hear it. (the music WASN'T that loud!) Found out two weeks later, when we found 'the juice' in his bedroom. Some 'experiment' they saw online. Shoving a balled up piece of tin foil into a bottle full of a certain common cleaner. They decided it didn't work and came back inside. Even kicked the bottle once or twice! The reaction was 'more' delayed then they were planning!

I have had the misfortune of being near field artillery shells going off. One was a 155 mm HE projo about 150 yards from me and the other one was an 8" projo about 150 yards horizontal and 100 yards vertical. Explosives are very dangerous. My guardian angel was working overtime in both circumstances. The shrapnel was flying by the OP on the 8" firing incident. A pop can sized piece flew 1 km over to our TOC and smashed a stainless steel mess kit in a ruck sack. It was a piece from the base of the shell that was extremely sharp, jagged, heavy, and hot!

The directions say stay a minimum of 100 yards away and not to use it near anything (especially metal objects) that can become shrapnel. These directions mean it. When mixed, Tannerite is intrinsically dangerous and it is up to the user to use it safely. Some people think if it is sold for fun it must be safe. No. When mixed it is as explosive as dynamite, just not as convenient to use or set off. People - please don't misuse what freedom we have. I used to work with a blasting crew and have seen what a blasting accident can do to a person, it is not pretty, people usually are not given a second chance. I think most people would scrupulously follow Tannerite instructions if they really could see what it is capable of when misused.

I've seen it personally, MAC (channel) did a video about it a year or two ago. He had a water tank on a UTV and still had to call the fire dept! I don't shoot steel case anymore, but even with lead/copper projectiles, I've since cleared my target area of flammables by kind of tilling it & putting sand down, and add more dirt to the berm if vegetation is starting to grow. This is extremely important in dropping trees, too; especially dead ones, or trees that will impact a dead one. Debris will be reflected back at the stump, so move! Escape 270 degrees from the direction of fall when the tree you are dropping goes into motion. Twelve feet seems to be the normal bullseye diameter, so try to move fifteen feet on your escape path quickly. Standing by the stump and watching will get you hit!

Yikes! I figured you’d be using two, maybe 3 lbs…… 😂 Glad you’re ok! I actually have experience with small quantities of it and can honestly say it doesn’t require much to get dangerous! Keep the great videos coming!

Tanerite and similar binary targets are basically ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder. As far as high explosives go, it's close the bottom of the scale but nevertheless it is still HE. It's not powerful or fast enough to do things like cut armor but what AN based explosives are really really good at due to it's lower detonating velocity, is taking large things and shoving them, as countless internet videos demonstrate so well.

Some stores in Canada wanna see a Firearms Possession and Acquisition Certificate to buy case quantities of Tannerite. Most terrorists don't have one. Most farmers do.

To buy in US is it called FFL ? Canada is called PAL (Possession Acquisition License) . That may soon apply to these types of products as well as Bing bangs.

I find it hard to believe the BATFE hasn't taken it off the market. I'm not going to disagree with them WHEN they do. There are too many IDIOTS for tannerite to be readily accessible to the general public.

Dont position the flat surfaces of the microwave, fridge, or whatever all squared up and facing straight back at yourself.. set it on a 45 degree angle so that no single flat piece gets sent straight back at you.

This explosive also propels rocks at high velocity. The shock wave travels at about 2800 metres/yards, don't matter, you can't react fast enough to duck. Fun but dangerous.

This is a 'low explosive' or propellant like gunpowder, it works well for 'propelling' things, high explosives like nitro glycerine crack things, they don't need to be contained.

My grandfather n law packed 10 pounds under a stump in his yard, fired a round, the stump was gone. About 15 seconds later it reappeared from the sky, landed through the neighbors chevy S10, through the roof, drivers seat through the floor, on the ground. It was a friggin mess. I'm stunned we survived it. It cost him a new vehicle and a lesson learned.

Tannerite on it's own is ok, explodes and energy dissipates fast at close range. Putting stuff around or close it in an object creates shrapnel or flying debris with the initial speed of the shockwave. Larger and heavier the object is more kinetic energy it retains meaning it's flying faster and hits harder most often with supersonic speed. Something to consider before finding new ways to check out.

Thanks for this video! It may save others from getting injured or killed. Explosives can propel small metal objects even faster than a high powered rifle bullet, and much heavier objects faster than you dodge.
