this looks great.. but at 8500 euros is way too much for me... however that does not mean that its not worth as much only that i can not afford it. i would love to own a mini lathe just as a hobby.. i have never used one before but would love to have one and try to turn few things

You can get beginners lathe that will still do a lot, for anywhere between 500 and 1000$, and still in rather good quality. I am hunting for Schaublin 70, and these machines looks to be awesome, with a lot of precission in working surfaces and spindle. A lot of accessories, cast iron precission bed, ability to turn it into mill, grinder, various tail stock options, carriages, indexing heads, chucks, etc. I even have seen one converted into CNC with DRO and computer controlled servos. 8500 is acceptable for me, if it is of really high quality, and comes with a lot of tools and accessories. I have seen some Schaublin 70 as low as 2000$, with only basic stuff in them. This one has two tail stocks, dead rest, few jaws, spare jaws, some hand tool rests (for woodworking), indexing wheel, attachement plate, milling attachement, a lot of collets, milling tools (endmills, slitting saws), . The quality is high. You can even see hand scraped bottom of tail stock ways, at 1:30. And almost no wear seen on them. If any. I would say it is good price actually. I have seen Niels have (had) another Schaunlin 70, with even more accesories, and I think in better condition (newer model), and it was amazing. It had probably 100 different accessories, attachements, etc. I think ~40000$. Way too much for me.

@@movax20h yeah i agree with you that he lathe is in a mint condition.. the only thing i could see from the video is a chip on the paint on the tail stock at 1:34 ... other than that it looks as good as new... but i think for that kind of money one can get a brand new Myford lathe with a lot more accessories and be able to do all the high precision work this lathe does plus will be able to turn parts of much larger diameter and length. Actually about two years ago.. must have been few month after i posted my previous comment i bought a second hand Myfor7 S7 for about 800 USD which was a pile of rust when i found it and ittook me about a year and good few months to restore it... i had to buy many accessories from ebay or even Myford direct i i think i have spent at least another 2500 USD on parts... so looking at this lathe wich is beautiful by the way and comparing it to the S7 i would rather have the Myford if i had to make a choice... Bigger, sturdier, can cut threads both imperial and metric, auto feed on the cross slide etc... and of course a third of the price.

@@EvoKeremidarov I will look at Myford S7 (ML7?) or Super 7, looks like a really good alternative. I am looking for metric threads, but able to change gear sets to support imperial is a good feature to have out of the box. Autofeed on the cross slide, I didn't even consider this, that is interesting. Does the Myford support having some stock through the spindle? At least a bit? I think the Schaublin 70 has a hole trough entire spindle so small diameter parts can be feed through fully, but of course you will limit it suitably to make it stable. I think Schaublin 70 is considerably smaller and compact machine tho.

@@movax20h I would definitely look at a S7... it is basically an upgrade of the ML series. Also you can hold material through the spindle up to 15mm in diameter.. at least that's the size of my spindle bore..

@@EvoKeremidarov Thanks. Power feed and functionality is very interesting of the S7, I think it is indeed a better fit in many cases.

I worked in a shop where this lathe was used to make pressure diaphragms (17-4 PH) with a .125 diameter and a diaphragm thickness varying from .0018 to .0150. Only one machinist performed this work and this lathe was his exclusively. What a joy to see this so many years later.
