TiECON Chandigarh-2020, North India’s biggest start-up and Entrepreneurial Event culminated in the world’s first robot citizen’s keynote at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Mohali. The robot was brought to TiECON by Grazitti Interactive, and Alok Ramsisaria, CEO, Grazitti had the keynote with the robot.
In an interesting conversation, Sophia, who recently turned four, stole the show with her understanding of technology, entrepreneurship, human emotions, and her sense of humor.
The humanoid robot who has traveled to more than 60 countries, addressed the United Nations, been to celebrity and fashion shows, greeted the people of Chandigarh with a Satt Shri Akaal, added local expressions like balle balle and chakk de fatte in her conversation and expressed that she’s excited to be in the city that’s “Le Corbusier’s masterpiece.”
Alok, CEO of Grazitti Interactive, which is developing AI-powered products like SearchUnify, a cognitive search platform, asked Sophia about the future of AI and robots. Putting aside the speculations of robots taking over human jobs, she said the future is humans and robots working in collaboration where robots taking care of menial and redundant jobs and free up humans for focusing on bigger problems facing humanity.
Being among entrepreneurs, she said that entrepreneurs are risk-taking and problem-solving people who “contribute to humanity by finding innovative solutions to practical, financial and social issues.” And in her signature style of adding humor to it, she added that a “chakk de fatte attitude is what matters for being a successful entrepreneur.”
About being asked if robots can or will run companies, she said that robots can assist humans with making data-driven decisions, but humans are better decision-makers because they have emotional intelligence and intuition, which robots don’t. So, robots will always need human supervision.
Displaying her knowledge of who her audience is, she congratulated Alok on his company winning the Stevie Awards. “I happen to have my head in the cloud,” she said implying that she accesses information that is there in the cloud and knows a lot.
