Reaaally really powerful. I’m 17 and an artist in Canada! Alonzo has been inspiring me for a long time and I’m so glad to see these videos now. Please let me know how I can stay updated with him and his work :)
I have heard Michelangelo could see the shape before freeing it from the stone. I didn't understand exactly what that meant until I saw Alonzo Clemons shape life from clay.
I don't think he cares a damn about THE MONEY! And that's the point, I wish we all could care less about money and more about making a difference in the world.
What he makes in a day could go to saving the animals he so loves, like the horses needing rescue. What a sweet soul Alonzo is and Nancy sounds awesome. Cannot figure why he is in an apartment instead of around nature and the animals, but then again, maybe this is easier for his caretakers, friends, resources and family proximity.
The Labels we use change the way we perceive people, Even among the so called (ordinary people), some of us are Outsiders and labelled Weird in our own day to day life... I Say Alonzo and many more like him just have a "A DIFFERENT ABILITY" not "a disability' the only issue is compared to the general population "A FEW PEOPLE ARE THAT WAY" and therefore the majority " INSANELY BELIEVE" they are the most NORMAL ONES. Let's look into our own so labelled perfect worlds before we use "LABELS" created by society to create such Negative Barriers. As a Rotarian based in Africa. Thank you for this, Alonzo is such an inspiration even million miles away #November2019
What is interesting that he holds his model all the time up side down and waunt miss correct proportions.ex: lenght of horses legs, correct lenght of animals body ,seting the neck.Yes the nature made up for his disability. One can think it is good to be disabled and rewarded with very unusual abilities.
Sadly, behaviour therapy is still done like that, it's widely considered the best intervention for autistic kids. They take away what the child loves and use it as a tool to get the child to behave more normal.
It is not until something incredibly unthinkable happens that you realize what the Blacks and African-Americans were really saying about segregation. I agree a severe life threatening condition that requires monitoring should be in a place away from home but in reality that place can be set up in a home too? Why steal away life's small wonder and sanctuary so you can blame someone for something when it goes wrong? Wrong is threatening an individual like yourself so he fears the worst.
Jesus I would have said hey Alonzo want to go see the horses and then sculpt them? Instead of punishing him by taking away his beloved clay that he sculpted with. Could they not see what a remarkable talent he had? I would have taken him out to wherever and said hey while we learn to get on the bus or whatever they were teaching him we can look for things for you to sculpt. I mean there are dogs and cats and all kinds of stuff he could see in the everyday life and sculpt that. Why use negative reinforcement instead of positive? Allow him to take his clay with him while he learns how to do Day to day things. I would not care if he sculpted a button to celebrate learning to button his clothes! There’s always a way to use positive reinforcement.
Mike yeah but is she taking all or most of his money? Why is he living in an apartment and working as a janitor when some of his sculptures go for $5grand?
@@Noneofyourbusiness57817 Who told you they sell for anywhere near 5 grand?? These pieces are a few hundred, tops. Most likely, his extended/close family and art agent manage his schedule, income, events etc
Nikola Milenkovic I got that price directly from his website. It has pieces that go upto $5grand. So you don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re making assumptions that family is managing him. The old white lady who has no relation to him has been managing/caring for him for the past 20 years. Neither of us know her character so we don’t know if she’s taking advantage of him. It’s very possible she is
