Aloo Tikki Recipe
*Ingredients:*
- Potatoes: 1 kg
- Salt: 1 tablespoon
- Turmeric: 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper powder: 1 teaspoon
- Dried coriander powder: 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds: 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala: 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chilli powder: 1 teaspoon
- Red chilli flakes: 1/2 teaspoon
- Green chillies (chopped): 4
- Fresh coriander: chopped, as needed
- Egg: 1
- Oil: for frying
*Instructions:*
1. *Boiling the Potatoes:*
- In a pot, bring water to a boil.
- Add the potatoes and boil until they are cooked through.
- Remove the potatoes from the water and let them cool down.
- Peel the cooled potatoes and mash them thoroughly in a large bowl.
2. *Preparing the Potato Mixture:*
- To the mashed potatoes, add:
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1 teaspoon dried coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli flakes
- 4 chopped green chillies
- Fresh chopped coriander
- Mix everything well until the spices and herbs are evenly distributed.
3. *Shaping the Tikkis:*
- Shape the potato mixture into small, flat cutlets (tikkis).
4. *Preparing for Frying:*
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg and set it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan for frying.
5. *Frying the Tikkis:*
- Dip each potato cutlet in the beaten egg, ensuring it is coated well.
- Carefully place the cutlet in the hot oil.
- Fry the tikkis until they are golden brown on both sides.
6. *Serving:*
- Remove the fried tikkis from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Serve hot with green chutney or ketchup.
