Were familiar sight/sound in skies of my youth. Would recognise distinctive metallic whurr of rotor blades from miles off. And the beautiful feminine curvaceousness of fuselage which only the incurably romantic French could design. Vive la Aerospatiale Allouette (Lark) III Eternelle.

Flew in them a couple of times. Even jumped out of one once. Like the bit where they are landing and their replacement is in the background. I get the impression this was their last flight before retirement.
Work horse of the rhodesian bush war. Both as a troop transporter and gun ship when mounted with either a matra 20 mm cannon or 4 barrel .303 browning machine guns. Trooping aircraft has twin .303 machine guns mounted port side. Had the honor of being shot down in one in 1979 and survived with minor injuries. Great Great helicopter. 2 still flying here in the zimbabwe air force.
