At 195 feet (59.5m), this B&M (Bolliger & Mabillard) inverted coaster is the tallest of it's kind in the world. When it opened in 1997 it was also the the fastest with a top speed of 67 mph (108 km/h). That record was broken in 2014 with the opening of Banshee, which goes one mph (1.6 km/h) faster.
You can also watch the off-ride video we posted to see more of what this thrilling coaster looks like: • Alpengeist off-ride HD...

I rode this back in 99 and rode it again this past Friday. After all these years, it still holds up and is my number one roller coaster at Busch Gardens!

The little turn into the midcourse break run is actually the most intense part of the ride. Super whippy.

Believe me, the cobra roll (which is the third and fourth inversion in one element) is considered the highlight of the ride by enthusiasts. Some don't like it because it is so whippy, but it's my favorite element on an invert.

Haven’t ridden alpie since 2004… banged my head around so much i had a headache and nausea for the rest of the day. I was a little shorter then, and Some folks have said they’ve smoothed it out a little and i should ride in the front, which i never have, and i LOVE every other B&M invert i’ve been on, so, maybe i’ll try it again next time im at BGW…

What will happen If Alpengiest gets diverted into a B&M Ski Coaster and would you care if they should? We'll it's obvious that the track will still be inverted, but you'll also be standing up when it's inverted while running on RMC like rails below to make it look like your skiing 🎿 . it will still be called Alpengiest but if they diverted into a Ski Coaster, it would match the theming?

Im going here possibly next month, and scared shitless to try Alpengeist & Apollos Chariot. I want to reach new heights and rider taller coasters. But almost 200 foot drop and 200 foot drop for Apollos Chariot😬😬😬 im not too scared of lift hill heights anymore, but i am terrified of the feeling of "the drops" ADVICE PLZ!! Do you feel the drop on both of the coasters i gamed?? I'm a kinda new coaster enthusiast, and ive conquered some pretty tall coasters throughout my journey, but terrified to get to the 200s. Ive also been to this park before but never rode the biggest stuff. Only Verbolten, Lochness Monster, etc. Which i love sm🔥 Nothing close to the 200s tho yet
@jamesambery4117
@jamesambery4117 3 месяца назад
I know I'm late but if you clench your legs together and close your eyes you don't feel the drop as much, if at all. Alpengeist's drop banks to the right, as shown in the video, so you don't feel it. Apollo's Chariot you'll feel the drop on but it's also a lot of fun. My suggestion would be, if you haven't yet, give it a try and the worst thing that could happen is a minute of your life that you didn't like. You won't even think about it afterward. You got this! 👍

@Primogen18
@Primogen18 4 месяца назад
For this type of ride specifically, I'd say more then others. If you are used to riding the more compact inverted coasters like your batman clones or talon at dorney, youll feel the height more on here, on the drop and large inversions. For coasters in general, not as much as like apollos chariot or pantheon at some points at the same park.

Does anyone else notice that most b and m coasters have that small dip before the drop?
@BWM135
@BWM135 Год назад
Pretty sure all the modern ones do. IIRC it's done to reduce stress on the lift chain. My home park (Carowinds) has 3 B&Ms (Afterburn, a shorter, slower, older but more element packed floorless like AG, Intimidator, a 3-train hyper similar to Chariot, and Fury 325, which needs no comment). Each has the "Dip" off the chain lift, even Afterburn (Originally our version of Top Gun), which predates Alpengeist by years. Better coasters or not I'd trade you home parks happily. BGW is absolutely beautiful. I was there when young, when BBW and DF were still operating. My last visit has been a while, latest ride then was Chariot. I know they've added Verbolten, a B&M dive coaster, and a new triple launch Intanmin ride that looks sweet. Cheers!
