@@creationsbyclaira it’s fine! Sometimes it’s just difficult for me to see where the strings are going but sometimes you just have to relook at things!
Sometimes I will use the extra string in the shaped start just to make sure it doesnt unravel.. then when the shaped start is made I will just put it off to the side and chop it off.
don't throw it all away! I cut off the good string and use it for scraps for alphas later. it's ok to be scared a little, but you will never improve and figure it out if you don't keep trying. I have seen other tutorials and ways to try other methods of shaped starts too! Good Luck!
