Tennis string job from start to finish on my own racquet. Made one mistake where I forgot to clamp the base :( - I just got the machine after using a drop weight for many years!
Stay until the very end to see close up pictures of the 2 types of knots used - a Parnell Knot and a Starting Knot.

Have had this machine for 4 years now. I recommend this machine highly. Best investment and ROI has already paid itself multiple times. If you have juniors who play competitive tennis then you need one of these. Thank you for posting this video.

Great video! I am convinced and confident that stringing a racquet will be a great learning experience.

You got a good machine there. At 1:44 there's slack when you started pulling. Very important to keep it level

I recommend the Yasuki method to prevent the slack

When doing the mains never go more than 3 ahead from the opposite side, and when doing the crosses why not use the starting clamp and do a finishing knot instead of a starting knot (which damages the grommet long term)?
@diyjosh
@diyjosh 2 года назад
I see where you're coming from. I started off doing 3 at a time, but slowly increased it and haven't seen any issues. My racquets are over 12 years old. Regarding the starting clamp for crosses, there are pros and cons to both ways. With a starting clamp, you have tension loss from tying the knot after; additionally, my bumper guard needs to get replaced way before any damage happens to the grommet.

My Revo crank is arriving tomorrow! Great video, I learned a lot... this will be my first time stringing. Is that a Gamma starting clamp?

Sweet, good choice! It is not, I bought it on Amazon and it appears to work well. Let me know if you need any other tips

@@diyjosh Good to know about the generic clamps, thanks. It's ludicrous how much they ask for that Gamma, and rarely in stock.

Ok Josh-- got this thing unboxed and assembled. Serious question: Is the crank really just set in place with no firm attachment method? No pin, no screw, no nuthin? Seems like it will just be quite easy to pull off. I went through all the hardware provided and don't see anything that would be used to attach the crank. Thanks!
@diyjosh
@diyjosh 2 года назад
Are you talking about the handle?? Yep it just slides in! When I first got it I disassembled the whole assembly for no reason to switch sides and ended up wasting time haha.
@bryanw5721
@bryanw5721 2 года назад
@@diyjosh Thanks, sir! Strange design choice, but alright! If it pops out I'll come up with a way to rig it. I found a review where someone actually complained about this because he said the handle did keep coming off when he pulled tension. No easy way to secure it.

1:35 What's the purpose of putting the floating clamp behind the fixed clamp? Love the video btw! I actually prefer the sound of a drop weight machine when it comes to the ASMR aspect but the crank is pretty satisfying too!
@diyjosh
@diyjosh 2 года назад
Hey James! I read somewhere that when clamping against the opposite side of the string with no tension, it's harder for the clamp to grip. The floating clamp adds a little bit more security to prevent slipoping.
@bengray5013
@bengray5013 2 года назад
It’s called a starting clamp, not a floating clamp. It’s purpose at 1.35 is to prevent slippage of the string in the fixed clamp mechanism when starting the first pull...

do you by any chance know the height of the table you have the machine on? Thanks!

@@brgorham Yep, used one of these plus some leftover wood I had: www.harborfreight.com/30-in-x-18-in-1000-lb-capacity-hardwood-dolly-58314.html Also, I'm on the shorter side so if you're average to tall height, maybe 25-28" might be good.

Will the fixed clamps adjust for badminton string??
@diyjosh
@diyjosh 2 года назад
In terms of spacing, they don't adjust width wise. If that works for badminton, then you should be good to go. In terms of tightness, you can adjust the clamps on hard they grip.
