I started a new character and decided to do trading and missions in nullsec. On the way there in my little fresh Condor, I got caught by a gate camp. I chatted with them while I was cloaked, they blew me up, then they convoed me and asked if I was a new player. I looked over at my 8 other accounts, 10 years in the game, and experience running a multi-hundred member corp, and then I lied to them and said yes. They gave me 600m and wished me luck. Truly a profitable first venture. The moral of my little story is that people in this game have a lot of money, and they're willing to throw it at other people. Your skills in talking and negotiating can be more valuable than any skill on your queue. Instead of just throwing things on the station market, try talking to people you see in an area a lot, see if they would be willing to give you some work. Don't just ask for free isk, offer to do something for them in return for a little extra money: if they're pvpers, offer to bring down ships and put them on contract at a small, reasonable mark-up. If they're miners who don't want to haul, make an agreement with them that you'll buy their ore at say, 15% below Jita value. Sell it that they're getting something out of it, and that they're helping a new player out.
Pieces of advice: - dailies... it's 2.000.000 ISK potentially per day. Not everything is immediately duable... you might need to ask other capsuleers for help (shooting each other, reparing each other). Making friends helps. But sometimes it's "build an item", you can buy a 10k blueprint that lasts forever, no research needed, super cheap minerals, gives you 500.000 ISK each time. "Mine 2000 units" is 500.000 ISK as well. 10000 SP if you complete 2 of them per day isn't bad either, you earn about 21000 per day as alpha w/o implants and remap, that's a 150% speed up. - move to Amarr. Al least 2 years ago (now I'm in Jita), Amarr was a MUCH better place to trade your way to your first 1b. The problem with Amarr lies in relatively low volume and low numbers, meaning there arent many items in which you can spend say half a b with decent marging... but that's not a problem for people with low capital and low number of orders. When your capital reaches multiple b, you'd better move to Jita. But prices fluctuate more in Amarr, you have more opportunities to make insane margins on low volumes.
Im considering this for a second series! The only thing is, I haven't participated in some of the other profitable activites outside of trading and some homefronts. So other things in null/low sec, incursions, ect. Probably wont be included. I guess I also wouldnt want to do things that are too risky that could set me back due to deaths... there is a lot to think on for sure, but I would love to try that sometime!
This is such a great idea. Given the vast amount of options and possibilities, speed running EVE to Omega would be insanely complex and very interesting.
Ive seen people on reddit discuss exactly about this challenge doing it with the 5k isk. Been trading long time and i think it's 100% possible. People said a year - I think you can do it wayyy faster. Please prove em wrong bro so I can link them your videos :D beginning is gonna be a pain though lol. but once you got 50m or something under your belt should be good edit: also subscribed !
While you're right, I wasn't looking to get a whole ton of isk, just slightly more than what I started with, but still far less than what someone doing the career agents would receive. Also, it might just be me, but I find project discovery so painful lmao. I'll do it for the AIR Career Program, but that's about it.
Sheesh, starting trading with 5k is like shooting yourself in the foot before you go and run a marathon... Trading is all about leverage, 1% of 5k is soooooo much less isk for your time then 1% of 2m - which is still very low imo. Best start getting serious about it if you got 20+m as a starting stack to make each trade worth your while. But hey, masochism is a thing i guess =D Still a nice video, thanks for the content :) edit: Coming from someone that pays 3 accs with trading and sees himself as a barely mediocre trader at best
Thanks for the comment! I figured an Ibis full of isk would be an acceptable addition to get started considering I'm not doing the career agent missions or any other activities moving forward. :)
I Usually get isk any way opened to me while beeing alpha so, go for it =P i would also use project discovery since u are sitting in a station anyways =)
Hey there! It depends how things are looking from day to day, but for this I had Brokers Fee: 3%, Margin: above 30% and below 100000%. I try to not look at much higher margins because someone will normally undercut the profit by at least half. But under 100,000% is pretty stable. Could probably get away with 50,000% just fine.
@@1982Clarkey It can be for sure! I feel like the way I trade helps me stay sane. But I can imagine that someday I'll end up buying and holding items instead of looking for quick returns.
Good question! TL:DR - While normally this is a good idea, I was limited and didn't want to put all my risk in 1 item. While normally this might be a steal, I only had 10k isk then and the total cost for all of it would have been roughly 61k without taxes/fees. The cost is 99.99 isk for each charge, and not 99.99 isk for the whole stack. Also, because orders were filled frequently enough, I had to weigh the risk of: Buying what I could from the 612 and nobody else purchasing the rest, and then other people placing sell orders under the 99 VS. Setting a buy order that is very likely to be filled, and then also stretching my (little) buying power into other items. Especially then if I purchase the item at 10.13, and sell at 99 (assuming someone else doesn't purchase it) would still be a 877% increase on the invested isk, and even larger if I'm able to post my little investment at 4k isk.
Bar to entry is low, but the risk ceiling can be pretty high depending on how much you decide to invest with! The way I trade at the moment is pretty easy. I'll expand on it more in the next video, the link to the website I use is in the description. :)
