So the M340i for a fraction of the cos of the M3 or the Alpina is about 95% the car of the others but better fuel economy. Its a win win for me for the M340i. Best £ for £ car on the market with sub 0-60 in 4 sec
B58 and s58 are also very efficient. As a used car you would be right. But new mmmmm i would rather the extra for the b3 or m3. Also its not worth all the fun and sound you lose out on compared to the 40i 😂😅
@stefanfreestylez 40d sounds great for a diesel tbh. And you get about 1000km out of tank. Makes sense if you're doing a lot of mileage but would still go for the b58 if money no object.
@@davecom3 on open roads at about 105kph a b58 3/4ser will do about 5.1L/100km. So you could get damn near 1000km with that sort of driving but ya i mean on average youll get about 8L/100km with them on mix driving. Point is theyre not that bad an worth the slight difference in running cost. If it was something like 5 series or suv then without a doubt go for the diesel imo. 3 series at this point isnt even light enough to chuck around and enjoy so maybe ya the diesel might be the best overall option as a daily driver.
What's weird is the close ups, it looks like the more powerful models are killing the others but, at the finish, they're not miles apart- to the extent that on the road, you'd have people saying "My 340D kept up with a M3!!"
340d have 2 turbos with variable geometry…330d 265 hp had 1 turbo with variable geometry,330d 286hp had 2 turbos one variable geometry and one with fixed geometry
If you still have the heart (or are), a boy Racer - M3. Practical of fuel prices and realistic that you travel just as quickly in real life.... 340D..... Love of petrol but still want "A bit of a bargain LOL"... 340i....... but if you like to walk quietly and carry a big stick... Alpina is the one for me! Enjoy Motors all!
B3 Alpina was never meant to do this sort of stuff nevertheless it performed exceptionally well! It represe ts class and comfort while still having a powerful engine!!
I am with the diesel still this cat have the most lazy engine here not buold for speed and that's what's happens Lucky rory taking it in the easy way lol keep on rolling and more stronger diesels please 😊
I have never understood the Alpina. Horrible old styled rims and looks boring. But I guess there is a market for those, too. We just had the M340i Touring for 10 days from Sixt and it's a very good car for the money.
Alpina isn’t supposed to be faster than M cars. I just sold my d registered 735i alpina b10 and it was literally the same power as the 735i but had all the alpina visual mods.
Do you even know what an alpina is? Clearly not, will never be quicker than an m3 is made to softer and more comfortable, on the road it would be in for a shout not just drag racing
