Hi and welcome to this new adventure,
Today's hike starts at the Umpol parking a few turns below the top of the famous Susten Pass. The first hour of the hike up to the Tierberglihütte starts gently on an easy and large path. The second half is much more challenging as the hike becomes more technical and involves some scrambling. However, the most complicated parts are secured with chains. Nontheless, it is important to be very careful, especially when there is snow or ice.
Once at the top, you reach the beautiful Tierberglihütte that lies above the Stein Glacier at 2795 meters. The hut belongs to the CAS Baselland and was built in 1942. It has 78 beds and the hut is wardened from mi-march to octobre.
