As much as you hate filming yourself I enjoy the scenery you capture for all of us viewers. When I just want to get away from this scene I just watch a few of your videos and I’m in another land of beauty. Thank you So much keep doing what you do. Wish I was there smelling the air and all my senses were alive digestion the alpine landscape.

I never heard that: downclimbing a cliff is a lot like learning to ride a bicycle....Great advice that I'll never forget.

Sick man!!! A marathon, but with 4000 vertical meters :0 An not that easy terrain.. Just Wow, and very inspirational for me.. Makes me want to do similar things in the european alps. Also a very good documentation of the adventure 👌

Great job brother! I'll have to add this one to my list of goals here in the Wasatch. Did the Pheif solo mid May, pretty snowy up there at the time. Planning to do the Cottonwood Traverse this season for the first time. Congrats on the Trifecta, you are killing it. Thanks for inspiring all of us who aspire to be fit enough to do these all day+ projects.

Love seeing my childhood mountains featured! You guys are BAMFs, makes me sick to watch your stuff but can’t look away. You also do a great job showing off our state. You ever thought about doing some of the really unexplored southern Utah canyons and buttes or doing some 1st navigations?

All the camera setups remind me of Survivor Man. That's a LOT of extra work, but it makes the video much more professional and enjoyable. Good job.

Is there a bypass to that 30ft down climb after Willow? I love adventures but also would like to see my kids at least until they reach their teen years.
@MediocreAmateur
@MediocreAmateur 6 лет назад
Ha! If there is I haven't found it. I asked someone about continuing down the west face of Willow then traversing the hillside back to the ridge and they say you get cliffed up. I guess one safe option would be to take a 6mm or 8mm rope and putting in a hand line. Just to get to the little down climb requires another somewhat sketch scramble off the west face of willow about 100 yrds from the summit.
@bryson_stafford

I wondered around for probably 2 hours trying to find a way around and that little downclimb is probably the safest way and it's not that safe. I got down, but it's sketchy.

I have been looking for this specific video for months, at times randomly searching but not finding it, because I remembered Blake's comment on how he managed to do it side ways lol I still don't know how he went sideways there, perhaps burying his hand into the snow and using it as an anchor? lol

You know, Danny.. I've been watching tons of MA videos since I found your channel and I thought you were such a cool dude.. But then you had to go and bad mouth my best friend coffee.. Despicable! ;) Seriously though. You're living my dream and each video is more motivation to do whatever is necessary to get out and adventure like this. Thanks for the channel and the incredible amount of work you put into such amazing production value.

Why do you do such crazy stuff? I know you are the smartest person I know and you probably do it just to make the rest of us lazy bums look even more lazy. Well...it worked. No one can keep up with Dan the Man. You deserve a perfect Father's Day with all your favorite foods, a massage, a little quiet and quality time with a good book. Why? Because you are #1. Mostly.

Nice! You make it look easy. Descending cliffs is always rough. Hey I've always wondered, do you use sunscreen at all or just rely on the Tan of The Fair People to protect against burning? I hate sunscreen so much that I tend to just wear a hoodie and pants. And even gloves.
@MediocreAmateur

I use sunscreen and re-apply in the middle. I wear the gloves because of the grotesque amount of sweat I produce.

I bet you have a reason for every piece of gear you take. But a cool idea might be to use a gorilla pod for your camera. That way you can leave the selfie stick behind and use a trekking pole as a selfie stick. Also you can wrap it around branches and put on rocks for some epic shots.

If you made me traverse some of those sections, you would not even have to torture me... I'd tell everything you would want to know. There is hiking, this is not hiking... this is advanced mountaineering or special forces survival training.

@MediocreAmateur
@MediocreAmateur 5 лет назад
It would definitely provide a unique view and would be a decent traverse. My rough measurement showed 13 miles and 10,000ft of vert if you start near eagle and end at the butterfields. That's a tough day out.

I was! I saw your Instagram post on it, looking forward to the vid. I've been meaning to get over there with my friend but just haven't had it in the cards yet. We've got an epic trip planned in July to climb up to Three Fingers Fire lookout in the North Cascades to spend a couple nights. Have you ever heard of that place? If you're ever up in northern Washington, consider checking it out, it looks amazing.
@MediocreAmateur

Never heard of the place but I'll definitely look it up. We're actually headed up to Oregon soon to check out some volcano skiing. Maybe I'll put some time aside to go recon the area. Capitol peak was a spot on suggestion so I'm sure three fingers is awesome.
