Let’s take a first glance look and impression of these stellar helmets from Alpinestars and Arai. Sure, sure… it’s not the Alpinestars M10 but hey, I have to work with what I got!
Let me know what you’re preferred helmet is in the comments!

On the Alpinestar I like how the sides are curved up so they do not hit the rider's collarbone. It also has the cut outs for ear pieces and to route a hydration hose. I also like the MIPS on it. Also the M8 reports it surpasses the safety requirements: "... an exhaustive impact research program has resulted in the Supertech M8 returning linear and oblique impact performance which far improves upon current helmet regulation standard limits. For direct, linear, impact by an average magnitude of 41% and for rotational acceleration, oblique, impact performance by an average of 48%." The Aria has more padding but it does not move to help absorb any impact. Do they both accommodate eyeglasses well? I know HJC says their do and I know they have a space in the side padding for eyeglass arms. I am strongly considering the M8 the past month in plain white or gloss black.

I thoroughly like the design and features of the Alpinestar. The issue for me ended up that the fitment was simply not comfortable. As I said, I’m sure that’s not the same for everyone. The helmet definitely has some nice features at its price and edges out the Arai in that respect. The Arai was just MUCH more comfortable and I had comparable movement and vision. After two tough rides in the Arai, as well as a nice tumble, I can say I’ve had near zero complaints. I hope to do a better review on it soon! The M8 did not accommodate my eyeglasses. I couldn’t even get them on. The Arai is very kind in this manner. Thanks for checking out the video!

@@landmototeevideos Thank you. I wear eyeglasses and Bell mx helmets do not accept eyeglasses easily nor fit my head that well. My CX7 offroad HJC just fits & my glases go in nicely. I have an Aria for the street and ya it is very comfy and even though it has no grooves for eyeglasses, they glaases do slide in easily. I am hoping to find an offroad helmet for trail riding that has the MIPS in it.

@@human1513 Arai does address rotational forces in their design, which they refer to as M.O.R.E. it’s just not patented universal MIPS technology. Many racers have unfortunately had to put Arai helmets through real world testing and have come out without serious head or neck injury. I’d just not dismiss a helmet for lack of MIPS. A nice feature, surely, but Arai is one of the best helmet manufacturers, with some of the top racers in the world wearing them for a reason. Good luck with your search!! I would give the Alpinestars M8 or M10 a try. Very nice helmets. You may enjoy it’s fit and have better luck than me. If you do try it, let me know what you thought!
