It's about peace of mind. You have auto insurance that hopefully you don't have to use, in case something happens you know it's there. Medical charges, permanent or temporary injury plus recovery time and therapy etc. The jacket is worth it, look at the MOTOGP riders; they walk away from most serious injuries due to the airbag. Also, riding a motorcycle is a hobby in the US vs developing countries. Therefore, riding is a hobby not a necessity for transportation so hobby requires time/money. Also, motorcycles don't save on gas vs riding a car; depending on the 4 wheel vehicle you have at home In addition to gear, riding a motorcycle requires training. I would highly recommend taking classes or watching riding videos and practicing in a parking lot. Ride safe 🏍️
Can you do a video demonstrating how it feels or fits for a daily street riding? Are you going to use it for track or under a racing suit? I want to buy one instead of tech 5 but, can’t find a video to see how it feels for a street rider. Thnx
I'm using for street riding only, no track. I want to make sure I come back home safely to my wife/kids. I will try to post a fitting and riding video soon; I didn't have a chance to post follow up videos. However, the riding sizes I went with using the Alpinestars sizing chart, it got the perfect sizes. I went with all season jacket one size up to ensure I can wear extra layers in winter if needed otherwise you don't have to go size up as long. Per Alpinestars support, look at the SKU#, the last 2 digits are for the year; make sure that your jacket is 2022 and above to be compatible as they ensure extra room for the airbag system. Here is the list of compatible jackets www.alpinestars.com/collections/tech-air-compatibility-checker. If you go with non compatible airbag jacket then you may have to go one size up.
Thanks for video, i bought this exact model. Am wondering about using it with a rucksack...obviously the straps shouldnt be too tight. But just wondered what your thoughts are as there isnt any advice in the manual or from Google search.
Your welcome. I would advise not to wear any backpack while wearing the jacket for 2 following reasons. One, the airbag is already heavy with a jacket on top it's quite a weight; I ride a sports bike and I'm still trying to get used to the weight with the aggressive riding position, my neck and back hurts for riding too long. 2nd, you don't want the velcro to move because of the bag weight and jeopardize your safety if the airbag ends up turning off. A few times I've noticed the airbag was off as the velcro moved because I didn't put in exactly where it supposed to be, the connector is very sensitive. I hope this helps, I love the airbag jacket with LED compatible jacket I have; I can easily know the charge and whether the jacket is activated or not while riding. I hope this helps, ride safe.
@@speedysid1229 Thanks for your excellent reply. Yeah, I ride the S1000RR and know what you mean about the extra burden of the air tech unit. Indeed it would be like waring two rucksacks! In both weight and protrusion. But the point about dislodging the velcro led panel is very good and hadn't considered that. Ride safe my friend.
Good question, I wasn't aware of the flame icons so I had to look it up. "The two yellow flames indicate two available Gas Inflators; one yellow flame indicates one available Gas Inflator" This could be found here in the user manual cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0258/9160/2490/files/Tech-Air__7x_Manual_v1.0_July_2024.pdf?v=1721212765
Sign up with the sellers when they restock, just Google it, if you see it then sign up for the alert when it's back on restock. I signed up at alpinestars.com and sportbiketrackgear.com, I bought mine from sportbiketrackgear.com because when Alpinestars had it available I missed the alert. You would have to buy as soon it's available, make sure you know your size by following the size chart. Good luck and have safe ride, you can't go wrong with this jacket. Check out my other review about compatible jacket with LEDs, you want to go with them so you know your jacket is armed, when riding my jacket went offline few time don't know what caused it to, hopefully I didn't attach the velcro to arm but having LED on the sleeve helps big time.
Check out this video about sizing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bsb0kb7dXXc.html My airbag is XL, but I wear Large shirt. My outer layer summer jacket is XL and the winter outer layer is 2XL so I can easily wear additional layers if needed. Both jackets are comfortable to wear. If you go with a non compatible airbag jacket then you would have to size up, by I think 2 sizes. The airbag compatible jackets have built-in stretch around arms to make the airbag fit easily. I hope this helps.
