I lived the 80s abd 90s. I lived in Virginia Beach and every girlfriend I had in my youth was from New York city or D C. I never could understand that; but being apart of that cocaine lifestyle back then I guess they were the ones attracted to me. After noticing that everybody I was hanging with were coming up dead or shot up. I was at a cookout one of my friends had and the topic of getting shot came up, and everybody there had been shot multiple times. except me, so then and there I gave up that life up, because I knew I would be next. All of my day one boys are dead or doing life. I'm not doing great by any means, but I'm not hungry or homeless and I'm still here, so I'm happy as hell.

Azie Faison send it best in a Vlad interview, that Alpo lost and he didn't really wanna face reality that times had changed. His mindset was still stuck in the 80s and he didn't want to let that lifestyle go. He was facing the death penalty or the rest of his natural life in jail and by the grace of the ancestors he only got 35 years, got out in 24. They gave him a new identity, and a new life up in Maine. Like AZ said he should have stayed his ass up in Maine. He could have got married, started another family and nobody would never knew about his former lifestyle if he kept his mouth shut.

I met Curtbone through my man Fat Rodney RIP and he was very strong in DC and had a strong crew. I have respect for Alpo very much!!!! I do not like the actions he chose in his young life in the so called game. I must say how ever Alpo snitched for his life for his freedom he was young and took an opportunity In my opinion he did right for self preservation. Alpo knew the horrible names people called him but he could careless The demons that chased Alpo in his mind had to be horrific but there was nothing he could do to turn back the hands of time. Po should’ve listened to Troy Reed he was actually tryna look out for him. The book was good imo. I learned a lot about the witness protection program that I didn’t know. Troy also mentioned in his interview with Hassan Campbell that the program gave Alpo multiple chances to stay before they finally kicked him out. Troy said they really liked him that much! Po was just hard headed. smh

Keep up the good work young man. I was born and raised in DC but fortunately not a part of that hustler/gangster lifestyle. I was away in Pittsburgh (University of Pittsburgh) from 85’ - 90’ spending only a few summers in DC. That was roughly the beginning of DC becoming the murder capital of the nation. I would see reports from afar of my hometown under siege. I would recognize the neighborhoods, not just the monuments they’d show on tv, nightly. I’d read the Washington Post articles on microfilm. My major is criminology so my interest to see these spots was definitely piqued. Upon return to DC 91’, I got a job that literally has me working in and driving through all parts of DC. My curiosity was always there but until the last decade or so, with the Freedom of Information Act, social media (RU-vid etc..) shows like FBI Files and American Gangster and a lot of these players (who lived through it) being released and having the channel to tell their stories in excruciating detail, there’s a plethora of information out there that’s never been known to those not in the game. I’ve done what you’re doing ~ witnessing these locations first hand, putting pieces together, satisfying my curiosity. I understand. It’s not for everyone. I imagine those hurt by the game don’t want this rehashed. It’s akin to visiting the WTC site, Dealy Plaza or the house where The Exorcist was filmed. I’m running long here but wanted to let you know, your work is appreciated bro. You’ll always have different opinions but do you, man. I drive through the 500 block of M Street NE ( Rayful’s mother house), through “The Strip” (Morton and Orleans Pl NE ~ Rayful Edmonds spots), K St SW (Greenleaf Gardens), 13th and Taylor Sts NW (where Alpo says he was ambushed by Jawbreaker) and other infamous spots in and around. I see a gentrified community now. I oft wonder if the people jogging, walking their dogs or taking their little kids to the playgrounds have any idea what these same streets were 30 years ago?….. I dont get why everyone was outraged about the footage either yet still posted it on their page and made money off the video while watching it over and over again. I feel like they fell in love with the characters from the movie (that wasn't even 100% true) because none of those people were connected to the actual people involved. I've seen documentaries where people went back to visit murder sites before mainly yt media. It would be awesome if you could interview Troy Reed about the work he's done over the years as a journalist. He's one of the best urban journalists and hustlers I've seen he has great contact that you could learn from I think. Curtbone mentioned to Gullytv that Troy tracked him down for an interview when he did Rayful's documentary.

As a child I always felt safe and was safe walking down the street by myself for 56 years old because the dealers in the money makers were out there to make money not her children or women so they kind of protected the hood and children were safe -If you were 15 or older in the drug game-watch your back. Great video and the book was actually a good read! The only thing is they didn’t give Alpo 50k because of who he was they give money to all government witnesses. They make sure they come home comfortable they just don’t put them out in the streets like they do regular prisoners who didn’t snitch. Snitches also get to chose whether or not to go into the program. That’s one thing I learned from Troy’s book. The ones who choose to go into the program don’t get the same price some of them get more than 50k. It’s videos and documents explaining how much some people in witsec have gotten after their release. It’s a guy who snitched on the mob damn near became a millionaire from being a government witness but I believe he was or is still working with them.

They don’t all get the same amount but they make sure all government witnesses are comfortable whether their case is high profile or not. You should read up on witsec program to get a little more info on it like I did after reading Troy’s book maybe even make a video about it.

When it came to the 4th of July, he would buy made fireworks and blew up the block. Had big cookouts, and holidays he would bless the kids and moms with cash.
