Unboxing and first impressions of the Alps Lynx 1 vs. the REI Passage 1.
These tents look very, very similar in design, construction and on the spec sheet. I decided I'd do a video review of both as I decided which one I liked more myself. I hope it's useful to someone else ^_^

Having used the Alps Lynx in Yosemite Valley for 2 separate base camp weeks, my experience with it has limited headroom ( I am 5 ft 6 inches in height) , condensation on the inside of the rain fly in the mornings, packs up light and small. Minimalist tent for camping though for the same money, there are better tents out on the marketplace. Good video review. Thanks.

The way that razz-matazz footprint attaches to the Passage tent alone would eliminate it for me. That simply has to go REI.

BTW the reason the footprint for the REI is made the way it is makes when installed correctly you(You didn't install them correctly )you are able to leave the footprint attached so its faster to pitch the next time,

Great review. I love my lynx 1. I got it a few years ago and use it regularly. I don't use the foot print though, I use my poncho and a foot print. For the price and field weight I love it. Liked and subbed. I got s similar chanel also

This is awesome! Thank you very much! Do you think the footprint is necessary to purchase along with the Lynx?

If you haven't already purchased the tent, i have this same shelter and you do not NEED the footprint.... however, its cheap and is good insurance especially if you camp in stony or we areas.

@@nicholasmapes thanks for getting back to me! I ended up buying the footprint and using it a bunch. It makes things better. Also, let’s you set up the tent in the rain without it getting wet on the inside

Ummm! Two different tents, I bet you would roast in the Lynx down south and hotter places, more wall than mesh, but would be good for fall and mountain hiking. I almost bought the Lynx for late fall early winter here in UT but found an MSR Hubba HD.

True. I camp mostly in the CO rockies. In the summer it is warm, but I have since used the Lynx down to -18F and (barely) didn't come out a popsicle.
