@@FirasAlkarradi you could not be more wrong😂. Even the Jews know Alqosh is an Assyrian village. It is written that way in the old testament. You are just mad that your identity was given to you by a pope. I grew up Chaldean and still practice the Chaldean Catholic faith. My grandfather knows he is religiously Chaldean and ethnically Assyrian. His grandfather only knew this along with all of our ancestors. Raman, that was the best mini documentary on Alqosh I've seen, especially when you mention it's true Assyrian identity and writing all over, when at the same time western visitors Strategically avoid our name, and gleefully call our Assyria, K-stan. Everyone, this is a Real Assyrian town, based on an Assyrian name, with Assyrian writings and architecture all over, in the heart of Assyria. Do not be fooled by any other names for it. Btw, Alqosh means God's Bow in Assyrian, based on ancient Assyrian Eilu/m ( God ) and Qishtu/Gishtu ( Bow ). Basima Raba Raman. Well done brother 👏

Nearly six million Assyrian Christians dot the world. Mesopotamia is the homeland of the Assyrians. The famous royal cities of the Assyrians, Ashur, Nimrud (Kalhu), Arbela, Dur-Sharrukin and Nineveh were built in it. The Assyrians ruled for approximately 1,300 years - from about 2000 B.C. to 612/10 BC - in northern Mesopotamia an ancient landscape between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. A clear reference to the existence of the Assyrians, on the other hand, can already be found in the Old Testament (1st Book of Moses 2:14). We are Assyrians. Northern Mesopotamia is part of the Assyrian heartland. Assyria includes Tur Abdin, Botan, Hakkari, Urmia and Nineveh. The people speak surit (Ashur-Sur-Surit) and call themselves Suraye (Ashuraye) in their language. The word Syria comes from Assyria. (Among others, signed by Prof. Dr. Stefan Wimmer) Let's move on to the Chaldeans. Babylon only later mixed with the Chaldeans to the south. The land of the Chaldeans was in the southern part of Mesopotamia. When we talk about Babylon today, we only mean the “city” of Babylon (Babel). Akkadian is divided into two language groups: Assyrian and Babylonian. Nearly six million Assyrian Christians dot the world. Mesopotamia is the homeland of the Assyrians. The famous royal cities of the Assyrians, Ashur, Nimrud (Kalhu), Arbela, Dur-Sharrukin and Nineveh were built in it. Just a clarification, there’s no such thing as Assyrian or Chaldean language; however, there is the Aramaic “dialect” of Assyrian or a Chaldean dialect, same alphabet, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and the entire Aramaic text is the same whether in Galilee or Alqosh. Mar Hormiz had hundreds of caves carved by monks and spent nearly all their lives talking to God and to be spiritual. Also, Alqosh was and is NOT Assyrians excluding a few families. They’re Chaldeans meaning they’re Catholics, hardly a topic that’s even open to debate and the locals will tell you that. The pleasant man from Michigan mentioned Assyrian out of politeness. Most Assyrians are orthodox, one would assume an Assyrian churches abound, NOT one exists. The churches are “Chaldean Catholic of eastern rite”, been the case since 1510 AD when Christians went to Rome and wanted the name “Chaldean” as an identity, the Vatican didn’t care, fine then call it a Chaldean Catholic Church, problem solved, well not exactly bcz now they’re part and follow what’s told to them by the Vatican.

Assyrians accepted Christ in 33AD by Thomas 4 months after the cruxifixction. They have the original Lord’s Prayer in Jesus’s language because thats the Assyrian language its called surith or aramaic. But nobody calls it aramaic but the west. It has always been called surith translated to Assyrian. Surith means Assyrian. We where shunned by catholic church and split into factions because of a man named nestorian. We didn’t shun him we accepted him in the church still while catholics didn’t. There was small differences in his beliefs. He went directly by the book while catholic disagrees with things like when he said Mary mother of lord or mother of jesus. Not mother of god. Even though they still believe him to be the son of god

@@SincerelyRaman people think nestorian is a religion and not a man that was shunned by the church. The assyrian church was established long before his birth in 4th century ce, the church of the east was founded in the 1st century. 70 or so years after the nation’s conversion

@@SincerelyRaman so many misconceptions about assyrians. Because of uneducated people who said these are nestorians! But they speak aramaic and call themselves suriya since the beginning of our existence. Why not simply ask them what are you? And translate that. Why not use history and haploid groups? Genetics tell us everything we need to know about us. Accepting Christ preserved our genetics because we did not intermingle with other groups since the time of our conversion till now they have barely changed. Marriage between armenians will have some caucuses dna etc but its about 80/20 or less depending on the person. But the preservation of Assyrian genetics are a crazy thing to research. @@SincerelyRaman Alqosh is part of the Ninawa Governate which hasn't been incorporated by the KRG. The people of Alqosh have actually protested the Kurdish occupation of the city. The previous mayor was literally kidnapped and replaced by a pro-KRG mayor. Hopefully our people can live in peace. Thank you for the video aziza

Maybe go do a bit of research before you make such comments. Assyrians don't have a state anymore but are the original inhabitants of Mesopotamia (parts of today's Syria, Iraq, Turkey and Iran). Although they are not Kurds, they are not Iraqi either as the so called Iraq was only made after world war 1 by the British/French and given to Arabs with disregard to all the other Ethnicities that were there for thousands of years before any Arab had stepped foot into Mesopotamia. Not sure where you get off being offended at Mesopotamia/Assyria being called Kurdistan but not offended when it's called Iraq? Again, I suggest you go do research into what this so called Iraq is, when it was created and as a special point of interest when was the Iraqi Army first established and who was it's first enemy (or more precisely, it's first VICTIM).

Yes, Chaldean Catholic and ethnically Assyrian. All modern ‘Chaldeans’ are ethnic Suraye (Assuraye) = Assyrians. Alqosh is located in Nineveh, the capital of Assyria.

Alqosh is a Chaldean town not Assyrian, never was. actually modern Assyrians (the Nestorian) were also Chaldeans before England invented the new ID for them for imperialistic reasons

@@SincerelyRaman Your info is WRONG, King Sennacherib brought Jews, Chaldeans and Arameans as captives to Nineveh, he used them to finish the Dur Sharokin project that was abandoned by King Sargon II, Alqosh and the rest of Chaldeans and Syriacs villages were built by those prisoners. Some 70 years later the Chaldeans defeated the Assyrians and they VAINISHED from history, until the British arrived and invented the New Assyrian ID for the Nestorian Chaldeans whom were living in Hakkari mountain (turkish Kurdistan) and Iran and the Caucasus. Nestorian Chaldeans were the Chaldeans who didn't convert to Catholicism in the 16th century and stayed Nestorians. Since the 1990s these modern Assyrians began a FAD`SCIST movement and start claiming that every Iraqi Christian is Assyrian. Google Nestorian Chaldeans, you'll find plenty of OLD books and documents identifying the modern Assyrians as CHALDEANS. Up until 130y ago, then they changed their ethnicity (British plan)
