Thank you for presenting this video - I've been on ssdi on and off for decades and if I hit 65 I'd think it'd be best to go on medicare since I'm on those advantage plans now
If I am on disability and in 2 years I am eligible for Medicare, am I able to decline Medicare and get it further into the future, like 3 or 4 years later?
Currently on Medicare disability with Medigap and Part D Drug Plan turning 65 in 2024. Am I eligible to change Drug Plans at 65 open enrollment or if I choose to keep my drug plan will it continue automatically?
What about original Medicare disability, not on a supplemental and not on advantage plan? I have original Medicare from a previous disability but am turning 65 this year, can I get a medigap policy from my birthdate or can I enroll 3 months before?
You will have an opportunity since you are turning 65 to get a medigap without health questions. If you have any other questions or need help getting your Medicare coverage set up correctly, give us a call to schedule an appointment: 800-864-8890.
Marvin, first, great videos. 2nd, I've been on disability for a decade. The only plan offered was a medigap plan and no one mentioned i needed Part D, so that penaliry is very concerning. Medicare and my insurance never said I had to have it. Also, Im still a long way to 65 so am I stuck on my medigap policy until 65? Can i switch to Advantage if its cheaper/better? Can I appeal any Part D premium panalty?
Do those people who are disabled and under the age of 65 have to be on Advantage plans? Do they have to wait until they turn 65 to enter a supplemental plan G with a part D supplement? I called United Healthcare and this is what they told me. I'm only eligible for Advantage Plans until 6 months after my 65th birthday which is four years away. I've had medicare since 2017. Makes no sense to me....I'm living in Delaware. Delaware Senate Bill 42 (SB 42) requires insurance companies that offer Medigap (Medicare supplement insurance) policies to people 65 and older to also offer the same policies to anyone under the age of 65 who qualifies for Medicare due to a disability. I've had an Advantage plan since 3/2017 which was my 25th month and my first mistake. Now they say I have to wait for age 65...
