Alt Piano is one of the most wonderful and inspiring upright (felt) piano-electronic keyboard library. Westwood is realy something very special. Rob is doing great things!
I legit own every felted piano sample library known to man lmao, but this absolutely takes the cake. The most fun I've ever had playing a sample piano library; the customisation and feel of the whole thing is just so impressive, especially for it's price point. Thank you for taking such time and care sampling this, and creating a truly wonderful VST ya'll rock.
Bought Electric Home Piano before and grabbed Alt Piano today. What an amazing combination! Love the character and versatility of each of your instruments, they really stand out from other sampled pianos I have. Can't wait to start making music with them!
Congrats Rob and Westwood Instruments! Taken one of my favourite goto piano vst’s and made it even more amazing! ALT piano, the gift that keeps on giving.
hi rob, there are so many words i can say, but i want to point just a few.. first of all thank you for your meaningful soul and passion about values, because this is the main point of all these sounds. secondly, i simply said "wowww" when i played the new alt piano today. it can't be any better.. you simply let us use completely new piano plugin for free (alt piano owners). i must say to people who don't have alt piano, don't even think twice, just get it.. thank you rob 🙏
Our pleasure and thanks for the comment! Really appreciate it, and it's great to know you think it can't be any better, as that's how I feel too. I was in two minds whether to re-visit it at all, as it was a massive undertaking to get it to where it is today, but so far it seems worth it! Thanks again. Rob
Congratulations, Rob! This is amazing! Upright Felt Piano, Pure Upright Piano, anything in-between, Sound Design, modern beautiful interface, compatible with the free Kontakt Player, for 35 euros? Instant purchase for me! The very definition of value for money, for an extremely versatile piano library! Can't wait to put it to good use!
seriously Rob what a fantastic update plus it is free for alt piano users..... alt piano is one of my fave pianos to have a jam with and I have like over 30 pianos but this one just draws me back in ..looking forward to testing this one out fully this week......anything new in the works? choir untamed?? also it looks like you have moved your man cave.....cheers
Lost Piano is not transferring to the Evergreen framework as it's a completely different engine and set-up! Or was there another update/bug fix you may have been expecting?
I would grab alt piano for sure I have nearly all Westwood's instruments and I would highly recommend alt piano.....even if you own lost piano.....cheers
Hi! The sounds in Lost Piano have been made directly from the recordings from Alt Piano. However they aren't the same! Lost pIano is a much more experimental synth-like instrument, and whilst some it sounds like a piano it's not really been made to replicate one. Alt Piano however was built to perform and sound like a real piano as closely as we could. Lots more piano controls, separate mic positions etc. The textures in Alt Piano share the same ideas and processes as all the sounds in Lost Piano, although none of them are the same. They are all unique to each library. So they are very closely related but definitely 2 different instruments! Let me know if there's anything more specific you'd like to know. Rob
Hey @Deanastro that's right! If you have any technical questions feel free to reach out via our Help Centre: helpcentre.westwoodinstruments.com/hc/en-gb
The Felt slider on Alt Piano is a great way to balance between the normal and felted sounds. Alongside the mic signal adjustments, I think you'd be able to find something similar; soft, yet punchy like Agnes Obel's sound. Be sure to watch the walkthrough to hear plenty of examples before purchasing.

Hi @S1m3le! This article should help out with your questions: helpcentre.westwoodinstruments.com/hc/en-gb/articles/15273261073949-What-happened-to-Upright-Felt-Piano
What is going on with this new version? There are random notes that sound like a completely different piano. The A#4 and A4 sound totally different from the surrounding notes. There is also a lot of noise even if you turn it all off. I think I will stick with the original
Hi @JBAikensMusic! We love our friends over at Native Instruments, and Alt Piano may share some similarities like with the felt option. The character of the pianos are very different. Alt Piano is an old upright from the 1960's. Beyond the more traditional piano and felt sounds this brings, is the additional textural layers that have been crafted from the original recordings. We think it's a really versatile instrument, and more importantly, lots of fun!
