Seeing as Altair trained as an Assassin for almost all his life, it's hard to see how Ezio, who didn't start training until he was an adult, could possibly be more skilled. The only reason people think Ezio had more skill is because he was the protagonist in the AC sequel, and obviously they had to add more abilities for him or it would be a crap follow-up to the first game.
Altair is so much better than Ezio or Connor, he completely established what the creed stood for and how they achieved those goals. He was such a boss that they made an entire game where the goal is to get into HIS vault! He's such a badass that he didn't even need any guns or bombs to get the job done! Some people say that because they say that Desmond has "the knowledge of Altair and the skills of Ezio" that means that Ezio was the better Assassin, they forgot about the bleeding effect.
