After bowser noticed that the plumbers were gone, he ruled the mushroom kingdom and everything beyond. But he was bored for eternity because his rivalry with the plumbers was gone. He regretted what he did.

Story (In I HATE YOU!): When Mario pushed Luigi in the lava, he instantly regretted it, he couldn't' believe what he did, he killed his brother, he thought himself as a murderer now, he was slowly starting to go insane, he tried calming down, but, he went insane, and ripped his eyes out of his sockets, he wanted to die, just like Luigi, he wanted...to be like him...just a dead corpse, with no emotions, just a dead body of nothing, when ripping his own eyes didn't kill him, he decided that there was only one option....jumping into the lava...and soon enough, just like Luigi, he'll be a burned corpse, a burned corpse, with no friends, no family, no nothing, not even...any princesses...just....himself....and his brother.....

Mario: LUIGI! NO! [cries] Luigi: [slaps mario from behind] *I HAVE 99 EXTRA LIVES, YOU IDIOT.* Mario: Yeah I knew that... IM SO SORRY LUIGI. I THOUGHT I LOST YOU. Luigi: It's ok mario. All that matters is that im still alive. So let's go.

It would be sad if Mario jumped in the lava accepted his fate like Luigi did that would be super sad

Another option could've been if Luigi was successful in killing Mario, making him realize what he's become. Deep regret fills him as he would stare at his own hands, the hands responsible for killing his brother. In response, he bites his fingers off.

I feel bad for mario when he just hate his brother Luigi, after he just push him into the lava, and I love how mario turn into a monster and mario just jump into the lava, but nice cover.
