Another splendid episode, Korean! Without further ado, it's theory time: I hypothesise that Chimeria is actually a nation from another dimension, à la Rick and Morty. Their mysteriosity in name, ideology, nature and especially war strategy supports this hypothesis, as well as their seemingly unexplainable power that it would otherwise seem ridiculous for them to attain following the Libyan Civil Wars in 2011 and 2014-2020. The same can be said for their knowledge on the string of anomalies Ethiopia is trying to investigate. Furthermore, their adoration for the plucky rebel nation of Rwanda suggests that Chimeria had humble, more gradual beginnings rather than just the rapid takeover of Libya from Episode 3. I personally believe that the "gift" Chimeria refers to is merely the ideology of Shangrilism, but perhaps I will be proven wrong in a later episode. The piece de resistance of my theory is, of course, Chimeria's dialogue with Egypt at the 7:19 mark. They speak of major regional conflicts as "petty", and act as if they have somehow been through much worse things. But how would such a newly-formed nation feel that way? The answer, again, seems to point toward extra-dimensional origins. Overall, the manner of their speech is one I can only really describe using an unconventional word; "edgy". Perhaps this word will be of more use to us in the future. Are they, or even a higher power above them, perhaps the unknown force behind the anomalies? Given Chimeria's answer when being confronted at the 9:25 mark, my money would personally be on the higher power theory, but perhaps Ethiopia's implied theory of them just being another cog in the anomaly machine at 2:07 is the more sensible conclusion. Intrigued by my theory and wish to discuss it with me and others? You're in luck, I recently founded a new Discord server known as the Diarchy of Mappers and Theorists with another well-regarded commenter who posts theories under these videos, and anyone is welcome to join! We don't only just discuss this series either, the server has much more to offer than that and I think we may have something big on the horizon.
I'm going to go on a limb and say that the Proxima-Imperialis multiverse is probably canon in this, although Intisar and co. don't show up. Chimeria's methods do seem to be the exact same as any transdimensional nation from those series' (glitchy wars, rapid, unexplainable victories, etc). Them being a 'survivor' definitely implies the existence of predatory transdimensional nations, such as the aforementioned Intisar, or the other 2 opposing factions from that series
episode 1 was eradiate, episode 2 was lv, episode 3 was rat, and now this episode is proxima - this series is like all the best classical mapping styles from middle school i love it
how does the Shangrillist State of Chimeria manage the delicate power play between the Government of National Accord and the Second Al-Thani Cabinet as well as the multiple competing Berber tribal states as well as the small but influential Islamist power base within Libya
The last map style was so hype, I have faith that you will be able to recreate the glory of Eradiate's AFOE masterpiece (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l0kfW3NYkL0.html)
Just like all his other series, short, unnoticable mapping quality at the beginning. But then the episodes get longer. and the music gets better. and the quality gets two years ahead of it's time.
Holy fuck this series is just all of 2016 mapping wait a minute what if we're going through the ages of mapping again. I am getting huge PIM vibes now.
