Alternative armies has quickly become one of my favourite mini companies over the last few years. Got a wide variety of stuff with them and the freebies with every order is always nice. Has a good Facebook group where people show there stuff
Since getting into wargaming, part of what I did was to re-learn how to sculpt. I sculpted miniature figures when I was young but eventually kinda stopped untill maybe about 2 years ago. I'm certainly not the best or a pro of any kind but I can, and have made my own mini's from scratch. I really REALLY don't like how so many companies have switched over to digital sculpts. They're too mechanically flawless. It's kind of odd looking in a way. You can tell the difference. Hand sculpted mini's DO have more character. Anyway, it's allways nice to find someone who feels the same.
I also came to that conclusion when I realised the character of new miniatures was becoming diluted. I began with early 80s Citadel and incredible detail and posing is one thing but character is missing. But ... My last order from AA contained Wildthingians and I feel models of that kind address the balance to a degree.
One of the disadvantages of being in the same country as AA is the lower postage cost - I try to avoid their adverts but some days the force is too strong in them... I'm tempted to use the vending machine as a grouchy bar tender in an RPG - just think how sarcastic and annoying it could be😁 😱
Taking about AA - Have you seen the news at alternative-armies.blogspot.com/2020/08/summer-campaign-2020-begins-7th-august.html ? The interesting bit is 'Secondly as you checkout on out website your cart will automatically gain a 15% discount on everything in it!' - May help off-set some of your postage costs...
You should know that your video series on The Sport of Kings motivated me to finally start my dream wargame campaign project. I found your series last month and watched straight through in a couple sessions of binge watching. Mine is a homebrew version of SoK set in an imagi-nation Napoleonic setting, and you've set the bar pretty high for mine.
